Have you heard of the Shroud of Turin? The Shroud’s legend is that it is the burial cloth of Jesus He was buried in before the Resurrection. The Shroud’s verified history is a bit different though. The Twentieth and Twenty-First century has seen on and off again confirmation of the Shroud’s origin.
The History Channel has aired (and is airing through Easter Sunday 2010) a documentary entitled “The Real Face of Jesus?” This documentary portrays the Shroud as the authentic face of Jesus Christ and shows a 3D computer graphic of what Ray Downing believes is the real face of Jesus. Frankly I love the History Channel even though their reputation of historicity has often been criticized by science and theologians alike.
As a man of faith I want to believe the legend of the old Christian relic known today as the Shroud of Turin. What do you think of the Shroud? Can faith skew science on the Shroud? These are all interesting questions with Easter coming upon us soon.
