Despite deep ideological contradictions, radical Islam and Marxism, Communism and Socialism have united in their hostility toward Western civilisation, capitalism, Israel and democratic norms.

Hanson notes that both traditions have shown a willingness to justify violence as a necessary means to achieve their political ends.
Contemporary Western examples of the alliance include politicians such as Zohran Mamdani, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib, as well as activist networks in cities like Dearborn, Michigan, where Islamic and socialist identities increasingly overlap.
