The US-led coalition against ISIS has reportedly killed the terror group's leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The Mirror reports that a news agency linked to ISIS released a statement noting: "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed by coalition air strikes on Raqqa on the fifth day of Ramadan." Raqqa is located in Syria.

Last week, an Iraqi TV station shared claims that Baghdadi had been wounded in a bombing.

Colon Chris Garver, a spokesperson for the international coalition, acknowledged that he had heard rumors of Baghdadi's death, but he has "nothing to confirm this at this time".

Baghdadi built up a strong reputation for secrecy. There are few known pictures of him and rumors regularly circulate regarding his whereabouts.
