WSJ: Palin Ally Upends Politics In Alaska

Sarah Palin and the Tea Party Movement (in the case of this post – Tea Party Express) have accomplished the incredible. Two candidates running in the GOP Primary in Alaska – Joe Miller and Senator Lisa Murkowski – are still too close to call a definitive winner. This is significant because challenger Joe Miller was like 25% behind Senator Murkowski about a month before the primary date of August 24, 2010. In fact I have read that Murkowski had a 15-1 election budget advantage over Miller.

In a Wall Street Journal post today I read that Miller is still roughly a little more than 1600 votes ahead of Murkowski. I also read that for Murkowski to make a comeback to remain a Republican on the Senate race in Alaska she would have to win 60% of the absentee ballots. It is my guess for Murkowski to win she would have to take a page out of the Dem Party playbook. The establishment GOP (most Conservatives would claim – RINO) in Alaska would have to manipulate the absentee ballots by hiding, stealing or invalidating them. If Murkowski allowed such a travesty to go forth she would truly be no better than a Democrat and undeserving of her Office as Senator from Alaska.
