Todd Bentley was used of God in a Florida based ministry in which people found the Gift of Healing and the Gift of Workings of Miracles in operation. Mr. Bentley somewhere along the line succumbed to the desires of the flesh and had an adulterous affair which led to his wife divorcing him. The thing which really made me fume was that Bentley’s sensuous desires were like an old but wealthy Spanish Galleon that lost its way in fog and crashed on the rocks of judgment contaminating the Captain’s reputation as a navigator and as a leader of men.
Bentley’s fall was like the Spanish Galleon’s Captain losing integrity and trust of those who looked up to him. Bentley’s faith not only made him an object of ridicule but all Christians who stand with the Bible and believe in the supernatural operation of God’s Gifts bestowed upon Saved humanity to bless the Church and to win souls to Salvation. Frankly I was more disgusted with Bentley placing the Name of Christ in disrepute than crashing his own boat on the shoals of fleshly desire.
Interestingly via a Morningstar Ministry e-newsletter (Rick Joyner) I discovered Bentley is working on the long road back to restoration. Joyner has been satisfied enough with Bentley’s restoration that Joyner allowed Bentley to minister to the Church God has him a steward of.
