BreakPoint: The Empty Planet

I’ve been critical of the UN’s Agenda 21 (and its updated variations such as Agenda 2030 which alarmingly includes human depopulation) for quite some time.

There are many facets to Agenda 21/2030 revolving around a despotic One World Government, a Humanism filtered through Marxism, alarming forms of Left Wing Ecology, of course loss of National Sovereignty which would include shredding the Liberty found in the U.S. Constitution AND for the sake of this conversion – Human Depopulation.

Long before the United Nations existed population alarmists have been preaching the theory the world’s ability to produce food cannot keep up with earth’s ever increasing population. The UN has taken this alarmism and has discreetly adopted a depopulation agenda cloaked in flowery Left-speak to disguise intentions from the general population.

Too often humans subject themselves to a theory as if it is a gospel fact. I found a book review on the Christian oriented BreakPoint that extrapolates a different kind of theory that earth’s population will soon reach its peak then naturally decrease based on projected decreased global fertility rates. The books title: “Empty Planet: The Shock of Global Population Decline,” by Darrell Bricker and John Ibbitson

BreakPoint: The Empty Planet
Population Bust, not Population Bomb

Email sent 2/20/19 9:30 AM

We’ve mentioned in the past on BreakPoint about “zombie abortion arguments.” You know, those arguments that just won’t die? They continue to be repeated long after they should have been “dead and buried.” Like zombies in movies, these arguments continue shuffling along, seemingly impervious to the reality that they are dead.

Abortion isn’t the only issue confused by “zombie arguments.” There’s a whole host of “should-be-dead-by-now” ideas having to do with so-called “overpopulation.” I say “so-called” because virtually every dire prediction Paul Ehrlich made fifty years ago in his book “The Population Bomb” was wrong. Spectacularly wrong, in fact. Yet Ehrlich’s ideas remain an article of faith among many—and I mean that literally.

In “The Walking Dead,” the only sure way to dispatch a zombie is with a headshot. Well, a new book should be the headshot for Ehrlich’s ideas. Unfortunately, many people’s worldviews harden to the point of becoming ideological kevlar helmets.

The book of which I speak is “Empty Planet: The Shock of Global Population Decline” by Darrell Bricker and John Ibbitson.

To be clear, there’s far more than one “shock” described in “Empty Planet,” but all of them flow from a single reality. Contrary to what people have been taught to believe for decades, “We do not face the challenge of a population bomb but of a population bust—a relentless, generation-after-generation culling of the human herd.”

As the Canadian duo documents, an increasing number of demographers around the world believe that the UN’s estimates, that human population will peak at 11 billion in 2100, are far too high. The more likely outcome, they suggest, is that “the planet’s population will peak at around nine billion sometime between 2040 and 2060, and then start to decline.” According to Bricker and Ibbitson, “Once that decline begins, it will never end.”

Their argument is scarily plausible. They are not exaggerating when they call this decline the “great defining event of the twenty-first century” and “one of the great defining events in human history.”

We talk a lot on BreakPoint about the decline of fertility rates in the industrialized world: Western Europe, Japan and the United States. We have described the dire economic and social consequences of this decline.

What “Empty Planet” makes clear is that this decline isn’t limited to the usual suspects. South Korea is headed down the same road to demographic catastrophe as Japan. Even more ominously, similar trends are emerging in the developing world. By the middle of this century, Brazil, Indonesia, China, and even India will begin to see their populations decline.

The reasons behind the decline are, not surprisingly, mostly cultural. In a brilliant bit of analysis, the authors point out that “as societies become more modern and urban, friends and co-workers replace siblings, parents, and uncles and aunts.” Families may put subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle pressure on young people to get married and have kids, but friends rarely do.

And then, there’s this well-established link between religiosity and fertility, something we’ve talked about before on BreakPoint.

Population decline is going to be a nasty shock, especially in the economic realm. Ideally, there should be about six workers for every retiree. Thanks to increased life expectancy and low birth rates, it is projected to drop to about three by 2050 and about two by 2100. We may live longer but there will be fewer of us, and our societies will be less dynamic, entrepreneurial, and creative.

Despite these realities, the myth of “overpopulation” refuses to die. Efforts to combat fertility and population growth, whether governmental policies or cultural incentives, are terrible ideas that threaten to make victims of us all.

Still, unlike Bricker and Ibbitson, I refuse to give up hope. Faith, especially Christian faith, is still strong in many parts of the world. And while that persists, there’s still a chance to avoid some of the “shocks” they describe in “Empty Planet.”

Otherwise a different, but no less real, zombie apocalypse awaits us.

BreakPoint Statement of Faith

We believe in one God, Creator and Lord of the Universe, the co-eternal Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary atoning death on the cross, rose bodily from the dead and ascended to heaven where, as truly God and truly man, HE is the only mediator between God and man.

We believe that the Bible is God’s authoritative and inspired Word. It is without error in all its teachings, including creation, history, its own origins, and salvation. Christians must submit to its divine authority, both individually and corporately, in all matters of belief and conduct, which is demonstrated by true righteous living.

We believe in the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death. We also uphold the holy institution of marriage between one man and one woman, rooted as it is in God’s creation of man and woman in His image and in the relationship between Christ and His Church.

We believe that all people are lost sinners and cannot see the Kingdom of God except through the new birth. Justification is by grace through faith in Christ alone.

We believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic Church. Its calling is to worship God and witness concerning its Head, Jesus Christ, preaching the Gospel among all nations and demonstrating its commitment by compassionate service to the needs of human beings and promoting righteousness and justice.

We believe in the necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit for the individual’s new birth and growth to maturity, and for the Church’s constant renewal in truth, wisdom, faith, holiness, love, power, and mission.

We believe that Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return in glory to raise the dead and bring salvation and judgment to completion. God will fully manifest His kingdom when He establishes a new heaven and new earth, in which He will be glorified forever, and exclude all evil, suffering, and death.

The One Two punch of the Dollar Euro to bring about Change??

Euro Pacman eating
Tony Newbill has sent an email that is more like random thoughts than a specific storyline. If there is a common theme it is the world is on verge of global economic chaos and that chaos will affect the Americans live in the future. That future does not look particularly rosy.

I would like for someone to think about how the gloom can be overcome. Perhaps there is something such as using the U.S. Constitution in the manner of its original intent bringing stability in the USA. Or perhaps the predicted chaos will be so bad that a revolution might have to occur to restore the Essential Liberty of Americans. Or perhaps you are a Lefty and actually believe a few elites running a collective can bring a better quality of life. Or perhaps you are one that is weary of the slow disintegration of Biblical Morality which is being replaced by ungodly Moral Relativity validating lifestyles specifically condemned in the Bible. Or perhaps some other restorative idea that reaches beyond the gloomy direction of chaos the world seems to be stumbling towards.

That was just a bit of musing to go along with Newbill’s thoughts found below.

Soros Compares Euro-Zone Crisis With Soviet Collapse

U.S. billionaire investor George Soros compared the euro-zone crisis with factors that led to the Soviet Union’s collapse in the early 1990s.

“Europe is similar to the Soviet Union in the way that the euro crisis has the potential of destroying, undermining the European Union,” he said in a debate on public policy education Tuesday. “With the profound social, economic and moral crisis that Europe is in, we can see a similar process of disintegration.”

Mr. Soros, who was born in the Hungarian capital Budapest, often visits his country of birth to give lectures. The comments echo those he made at a conference in Denmark last week, where he said the euro-zone crisis is “not over yet, and it is going in the wrong direction.”

“The euro is undermining the political cohesion of the European Union, and, if it continues like that, could even destroy the European Union,” he said in comments carried by Reuters. “You can grow out of excessive debt, you cannot shrink out of excessive debt.”

He also said earlier in April the European Union is unlikely to survive the current euro-zone debt crisis without more pragmatic German policies.

“Europe is facing a long period of economic stagnation or worse,” Mr. Soros told a conference in Berlin April 12. German authorities, notably the Bundesbank and the constitutional court, are “dead set” on enforcing laws that have proved to be unworkable and the crisis threatens “still-incomplete political union,” he said.

Mr. Soros said other countries, such as Japan and Latin American nations, have come through similar experiences and survived, but the EU is not a country and is “unlikely to survive.” (WSJ; by Martin Eder; 4/24/12 10:35 AM)

George Soros said that if he were still an active investor, he would now "bet against the euro", at least until there is a change in European leadership or policy.

George Soros has launched all-out war against the Bundesbank.

The euro threatens to destroy the European Union and, with the best of intentions, the leaders are leading Europe to its ruin by trying to impose inappropriate rules.

The introduction of the euro has led to divergence instead of bringing about convergence. The most fragile countries of the eurozone have discovered that they are in a Third World situation, as if they were indebted in a foreign currency, with a crucial effect that there is a real risk of default. Trying to make them respect rules that don’t work just makes matters worse. Sadly, the authorities don’t understand this.

Mario Draghi has launched extraordinary measures with his €1 trillion injection of liquidity through three-year loans. But the effect of this operation has been broken by the counter-attack of the Bundesbank.

Watching the growth of the ECB’s balance sheet, the Bundesbank has realised that it risks heavy loses (sic) if the euro blows up and is therefore opposed to the (LTRO) policy. Let us hope that this does not become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

It follows a Süddeutsche Zeitung interview last Friday in which he accused "Bundesbank bureaucrats" of standing ready to smash the euro, exceeding their constitutional and political authority.

Mr Soros has some expertise in this field. His cue for launching a speculative attack – with others – on Sterling and the Lira in September 1992 came after Bundesbank chief Helmut Schlesinger told Handelsblatt that the two currencies were overvalued within the ERM peg. There would have to be realignment. (The Telegraph; by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard; 4/19/12 READ THE REST)

So if the destabilization of the Euro were to happen would it lead to a destabilization of the Dollar as well? And would the Supply of goods from Brazil, Russia, India & China (BRIC) nations be interrupted due to a Euro Dollar rejection by the BRIC nations?

Is this scenario being prepared for by what we see going on below? To bring change you need a crisis that you can then be the remedy for, right?

Department of Defense Confirms Russian Troops to Conduct Terror Drills Inside U.S.

The Department of Defense has confirmed various foreign and alternative media reports that claimed Russia troops will be conducting unprecedented anti terrorism drills inside the United States.

In an email to the New American, Cmdr. Wendy L. Snyder, U.S. Defense Press Officer for policy confirmed the reports:

“The Russian soldiers are here as invited guests of the U.S. government; this is part of a formal bilateral exchange program between the U.S. and Russia that seeks to develop transparency and promote defense reform,” Cmdr. Wendy L. Snyder, U.S. Defense Press Officer for policy, told The New American in an e-mail. “This is the first time that American and Russian special operations troops have participated in a bilateral exercise.”

According to Snyder, the exercises — which she said would last about three weeks in all — will serve to train and improve skills related to terror-war fighting. About 20 Russian soldiers will be participating, with most of the training to take place on the Fort Carson, Colorado, Army base and a mountain training area several hours away.

“Aside from typical military training, the exchange will include discussions on the rule of land warfare, developing appropriate rules of engagement, and employing cultural literacy and competency in the tactical environment,” Snyder explained. “This type of training is routinely conducted by 10th Special Forces Group.”

The drills, which will take place throughout May, mark the first time that Russian and US troops will train along side each other on American soil and correlate with a long line of Foreign military’s training to take on the American people.

The above fact, coupled with claims that President Obama has taken Russian money to fund his campaign, have stoked fears over the use of foreign, communist military’s to take on the American people in a time of crisis. (TheIntelhub.com; by Alex Thomas; 4/27/12. READ ENTIRITY)

My worry is Power and consolidation of power into the Federal Government of the Means to Create and Distribute vital human resources rather than a privately produced supply of these resources due to an Inequity issue while the technocrats are Talking about depopulation. They are talking because politics and Power Always collide. And if we the people do not keep these powers separated with the States separate from the Federal Government - when the Federal Government is being advised by these ideologues who are speaking about the world’s problems as if this is not a USA problem, but it is what they think is a universal problem. And that an Over Consumption rate in the USA makes it harder for these ideologues to Preach this need for population control all over the world. This is what we need to make the topic of debate because this is the very premise of why we are in economic repression today. And the longer we are in this stall the smaller the supply is getting........

[SlantRight Editor: This Raw Story link provided by Tony Newbill is supportive of depopulating the earth and in redistributing the wealth to elevate the living conditions of the poor. This is classic validation of Eco-Marxism. As you read the article you need to think about how these nuts intend to depopulate the earth by a few billion people and at the same time redistribute wealth to the world’s poor. You need to think because I am guessing the first people to be depopulated are going to be the world’s poor. HELLO!]

Expert warns world needs to move ‘rapidly’ toward ‘population shrinkage’

By John Vidal, The Guardian
Thursday, April 26, 2012 9:28 EDT

The world’s most renowned population analyst has called for a massive reduction in the number of humans and for natural resources to be redistributed from the rich to the poor.

Paul Ehrlich, Bing professor of population studies at Stanford University in California and author of the best-selling Population Bomb book in 1968, goes much further than the Royal Society in London which this morning said that physical numbers were as important as the amount of natural resources consumed.

The optimum population of Earth – enough to guarantee the minimal physical ingredients of a decent life to everyone – was 1.5 to 2 billion people rather than the 7 billion who are alive today or the 9 billion expected in 2050, said Ehrlich in an interview with the Guardian.

“How many you support depends on lifestyles. We came up with 1.5 to 2 billion because you can have big active cities and wilderness. If you want a battery chicken world where everyone has minimum space and food and everyone is kept just about alive you might be able to support in the long term about 4 or 5 billion people. But you already have 7 billion. So we have to humanely and as rapidly as possible move to population shrinkage.”

“The question is: can you go over the top without a disaster, like a worldwide plague or a nuclear war between India and Pakistan? If we go on at the pace we are there’s going to be various forms of disaster. Some maybe slow motion disasters like people getting more and more hungry, or catastrophic disasters because the more people you have the greater the chance of some weird virus transferring from animal to human populations, there could be a vast die-off.”

Ehrlich, who was described as alarmist in the 1970s but who says most of his predictions have proved correct, says he was gloomy about humanity’s ability to feed over 9 billion people. “We have 1 billion people hungry now and we are going to add 2.5 billion. They are going to have to be fed on more marginal land, from water that is purified more or transported further, we’re going to have disproportionate impacts on how we feed people from the population increase itself,” he said.

“Most of the predictions [in Population Bomb] have proved correct. At that time I wrote about climate change. We did not know then if it was warming or cooling. We thought it was going to be a problem for the end of this century. Now we know it’s warming and a problem for the beginning of the century; we didn’t know about the loss of biodiversity. Things have been coming up worse than was predicted. We have the threats now of vast epidemics”.

“I have a grim view of what is likely to happen to my children and grandchildren. Politicians can control the financial mess we are in but they don’t have control over the systems of the planet that provide us our food, our welfare, those are deteriorating and it will take us a long time to turn it around if we start now. It’s hard to think of anything that will pop up and save us. I hope something will but it really will be a miracle.”

But he agreed with the Royal Society report that said human population and consumption should not be divided. “[They] multiply together. You have to be deal with them together. We have too much consumption among the rich and too little among the poor. That implies that terrible thing that we are going to have to do which is to somehow redistribute access to resources away the rich to the poor. But in the US we have been doing the opposite. The Republican party is wildly in favour of more redistribution, of taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich.”

Overpopulation Stuff – Tony Newbill

Tony Newbill writes (in several emails) about Leftist utopianism in which a ruling elite desire to create circumstances in which the planet Earth’s population is reduced substantially (we are talking billions) that the Secular Humanist vision of a Green Earth maintains a sustainable population for food consumption and human waste.

If that intro is too cryptic to understand, Obama has people in places of power that is on an extra-Constitutional basis that desires to exterminate billions of people to keep earth an inhabitable planet as defined by Malthusian elitist rule.
