There was I a time I would defend Free Speech even of those I highly disagreed with. In matters of politics and religion I have always believed people are entitled to their opinion.
Since Barack Hussein Obama somehow attained the Office of President, my Free Speech sentiment has evolved to a modified view. Every Dem in authority since BHO has deemed Christian-Conservative-Patriots as enemies of the State and has actively embarked on transforming the FOUNDERS’ Republic into an anti-Christian godless Globalist-Marxist State. All those who resist that notion as worthy of prison or reeducation camps or extra-paramilitary assassination.
I have posted over a decade ago that Senator Joe McCarthy was way more correct about Communist infiltration into America than wrong. You can read those posts in order of dates: HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE & HERE.
The silencing and vilification of Senator McCarthy has become the precursor of how Dems silence dissent to their anti-American transformation today. These days I am not so inclined to defend the Free Speech of those who would SILENCE me.

For those younger people who didn’t get a well-rounded education, and that is probably the majority of people under 50 years of age, Joseph McCarthy was a Republican senator from Wisconsin from 1947 to 1957.
Senator McCarthy is best known for his post-war struggle to make America aware that under Democrat administrations communists had infiltrated our institutions, including the United States government and our entire education system. Now, even the Smithsonian has succumbed to this infection.
McCarthy was accused many times of “odorous tactics” in his hunt for those who would destroy our country.
When Hitler deported communists and any would-be pretenders to the German throne in the 1930s, many found their way to America’s universities and classrooms. Their kids, grandkids and former students now dominate education in America.
Let’s be clear, the search for card-carrying communists in our government was not a witch hunt. It was and should remain a legitimate pursuit of those who are actively engaged in destroying our system of government, eliminating our middle class, and creating an underclass of people subservient to an autocratic, oligarchic, privileged few.
Only this time the battle has widened. Communism and Islam have merged. They are using each other to eliminate their mutual enemies: Christianity, freedom, and the West.
It remains the self-appointed task of liberals, closet communists, and Democrats to not defend themselves but make the opposition look foolish and sound insane. For McCarthy, any government investigations were to look like the Salem Witch Trials. They did an admirable job.
For Democrats, the smear remains the first battle tactic. The second is to deny, deny, deny. The third is to never directly answer any question or accusation.
But they did find infiltrators...an extensive espionage network, in fact. The Soviets even went as far as thoroughly bugging the rooms of the American and British delegations at the Yalta Conference in 1945.
Among the more infamous, Alger Hiss, a Soviet spy who worked for Presidents Roosevelt and Truman in the State Department, and communists Julius Rosenberg, a U.S. Army Signal Corps engineer under Truman, along with his wife Ethel Rosenberg, were convicted of passing military and nuclear technology to the Soviets and acting as recruiters. They were executed in 1953. These cases demonstrate that Democrats repeatedly failed to eliminate Soviet infiltration from their ranks.
Liberals, of course, defended the Rosenbergs. Books were written in their defense. One such book, written in 1983, The Rosenberg File, believed in their innocence and, like many other liberals, condemned the leaving of two small children with no parents. Later, when presented with the evidence, they changed their mind. The book is still available, but with a rewritten foreword.
Khrushchev, having died in 1971, previously dictated over 300 hours of memoirs on two sets of reel-to-reel audiotape. The original set was confiscated, but his son, Sergei, made two copies of each reel and gave them to others for safekeeping. The final blow occurred in 1999 with the release of Nikita Khrushchev’s complete memoirs. Khrushchev was heard praising the Rosenbergs for their effort to bring nuclear bomb technology to the Soviet people.
In 2000, Dr. Khrushchev donated his father’s papers to Brown University.
When it became evident that Hollywood was filled with communists, Hollywood turned to the First Amendment. They probably felt it was their right to propagandize to advocate for the fall of America.
It must have been difficult to see the likes of Henry Fonda, Lucille Ball, Humphrey Bogart, and many others defending their associates and friends in the name of “free speech.”
There is historical precedent for protecting our country from dangerous speech and activity. In the 20th century, the Smith Act of 1940 criminalized advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government, upheld in 1951.
The Internal Security Act of 1950 required Communist organizations to register with the U.S. government and created mechanisms to control subversive activities.
The Communist Control Act of 1954, signed by President Eisenhower, outlawed the Communist Party USA as a threat to national security.
The Democratic Socialists of America want a complete remake of our government and institutions. They made it clear that they are communists. How is that not different from what was covered by the anti-Communist congressional acts of the past?
Given this knowledge, how many people today can confidently assert that communist infiltration is no longer a concern? Why are we not protecting ourselves from these domestic enemies? Currently, there are 216 individuals in public office who hold endorsements from the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) or are members of the DSA.
Do we need to dust off these Acts of Congress to cease their socialist insurrection?
We have free speech and freedom. But both come with responsibilities. We need to once again ask ourselves how far it should go. Should we allow organizations like the DSA to exist that advocate and actively work to dismantle our country and use our freedoms to destroy us? Why do we even have elections where communism is a choice? We must carefully consider the implications of allowing ideologies that contradict the foundational principles of our democracy to thrive unchecked.
Yes, McCarthy was right and now vindicated. We have attacks on churches, Jews, and our system of capitalism like never before. There were and still are domestic enemies in the form of Marxists ready to devour our great nation. This time let’s not worry about whose feelings we hurt.
