I grew up in Eastern Washington State (to distinguish from the uber-Left West of the Cascades side). I graduated from High School in 1975. Sowed a bit of wild oats. Became a Christian. Graduated from my hometown College (CWU) in 1981 (BA-History). I became motivated to go to Bible School. Packed the family (at time – wife & two small kids) and moved to Oklahoma to attend Bible School between 1982-84. The school was called RHEMA Bible Training Center in those day and was a one year program with an optional second year. Now days the institution is an accredited college called RHEMA Bible Training College (ABOUT).

 

Between 1982 and 1997 I moved back and between Oklahoma and Washington State. It was actually a rough period of time because I experienced divorce. The GOOD NEWS is I found the love of my life in 1990 and remarried my Oklahoma Cherokee princess (well…princess to me). In 1997 we moved back to Oklahoma for my honey to attend RHEMA. We have lived continuously in Oklahoma since 1997.

 

So, why the background?

 

I’ve lived so long in Oklahoma that my oldest Washington-born daughter told me once I have an Okie accent. Frankly, I’ve resisted becoming an Okie transplant for a long time.

 

You may not believe this now, but most of my growing up years, Washington State a Republican Governor who after several terms on Office became a Republican Senator (Dan Evans). I mention this because Washington has not always been a Left-Wing Nut State.

 

Since living in Oklahoma and listening to updates from daughter who remains in Washington, my home State seems committed to compete with Commufornia as the most Leftist State on the West Coast.

 

And so for my now fellow Okies, you are probably aware that Markwayne Mullin is now the former Senator of Oklahoma and now is Secretary of the Dept of Homeland Security (DHS).

 

Now that I live in a dedicated Conservative State, and realizing the GOP majority is slim, I became concerned about the process to replace Mullin as Senator in Oklahoma.

 

On March 24 I ran into a news article from One America News that explains that Office replacement process in the State of Oklahoma. Okies in particular should be interested. AND Conservatives in general concerned about Dem-Marxists regaing political power should be interested. It turns out OK Governor Stitt has appointed Alan Armstrong to temporarily hold the Office of Senator pending the November 2026 Election. As you will read in the OAN article, appointed Office replacements are temporary in Oklahoma and prohibited from running in the next general election by Oklahoma law.

Oklahoma GOP Governor Kevin Stitt announced that he has appointed energy executive Alan Armstrong to the United States Senate, filling the vacancy created by Markwayne Mullin’s recent confirmation as the new secretary of Homeland Security.

 

The appointment, announced during a morning press conference at the State Capitol, places the former CEO of Williams Companies in the upper chamber at a pivotal moment for federal energy policy.

 

Armstrong was sworn in Tuesday afternoon by Senate President Pro Tempore Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), ensuring Oklahoma maintains its full representation as the Senate moves forward with a packed spring legislative calendar.

 

He will serve alongside Oklahoma Senator James Lankford as an interim appointee. Under Oklahoma law, he will serve until the results of the November 3, 2026, general election are certified, which is expected to happen by late November or early December.

 

Armstrong is also legally barred from running for the seat himself in that election.

 

Governor Stitt emphasized that Armstrong’s selection was driven by a need for a conservative business leader who could hit the ground running on infrastructure and regulatory reform.

 

“Alan’s story, as you guys get to know him, reflects the very best of Oklahoma,” he said. “Our values, our work ethic, and our pursuit of the American dream that is alive and well in the state of Oklahoma.”

 

Armstrong, 63, spent nearly four decades at Williams Companies, a Fortune 500 natural gas giant headquartered in Tulsa. He served as the company’s president and CEO for 14 years before transitioning to executive chairman in 2025.

 

According to surfacing reports, Armstrong’s primary focus during his tenure will be permitting reform. Both Stitt and Armstrong noted that they had consulted with President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) regarding the appointment.

 

All parties purportedly agreed that the Senate needs a technical expert to help break the long-standing deadlock over streamlining federal approvals for large-scale energy projects.

 

“The truth is, it’s gotten very, very hard to build large-scale infrastructure, and it is so critical to our country’s competitiveness in the long term,” Armstrong told reporters. He also noted that his background in the energy industry provides a unique perspective on the regulatory hurdles facing the U.S., adding that his primary focus in the Senate will be securing permitting reform to bolster national interests.

 

“This was definitely a tough decision on one hand,” Armstrong continued at the Tuesday press conference. “But on the other hand, it was kind of a no-brainer, because I really wouldn’t want to be sitting around in my retirement thinking, ‘gosh, I could’ve contributed and done something.’”

 

Duration

 

Armstrong will serve as an interim senator until the results of the November 3, 2026, general election are officially certified. Under Oklahoma’s 2021 vacancy law, the interim term concludes once a permanent successor is elected and sworn in, which is expected to occur in January 2027.

 

Party Alignment

 

Per Senate Bill 959, any interim appointee must have been a member of the same political party as the departing senator — in this case, the Republican Party — for at least five years immediately preceding the appointment.

 

Additionally, the appointee must sign a legally binding public oath or affidavit with the Secretary of State affirming they will not seek the office in the upcoming election, a measure designed to prevent them from having an “incumbency advantage.”

 

Succession

 

Republican Representative Kevin Hern of Oklahoma’s 1^st District [Blog Editor: This is this Editor’s Voting District] has solidified his position as the leading candidate for the permanent seat. Recently, his campaign gained significant momentum after receiving an early endorsement from President Donald Trump, who praised Hern as a “warrior” for the America First agenda.

 

With fellow Representative Stephanie Bice opting to run for re-election to the House instead of challenging him, Hern enters the June primary as the clear favorite.

 

The seat became vacant after Mullin was confirmed by the Senate in a 54-45 vote on Monday night to lead the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Mullin succeeds Kristi Noem, who was recently removed from the post by the Trump administration. Mullin, a member of the Cherokee Nation and a former MMA fighter, had served in the Senate since 2023.

 

Meanwhile, Armstrong’s arrival in Washington does not change the balance of power in the Senate, where Republicans currently hold a 53-47 majority. However, his deep ties to the energy sector and his previous roles, including chairing the National Petroleum Council, are expected to make him a central figure in upcoming debates over the “America First” energy agenda.

I live in Oklahoma. I was supportive of Senator James Lankford in his last run for the Senate and was please he was elected. THEN I began to notice an apparent anti-Trump streak in Senator Lankford’s backbone. This really emerged in Election 2020 when Senator Lankford ignored the loads of Voter Fraud that not a single Court would look at based on CORRUPT rulings of lack of standing rather than examining the merits of election/voting crimes in 2020. As a result of Senator Lankford tossing President Trump under the bus a local Tulsa Pastor (Sheridan.Church – formerly Sheridan Christian Center) in Jackson Lahmeyer is challenging Lankford in June 28 GOP Primary.

 

Lankford’s apparent polling indicates a commanding lead over Pastor Lahmeyer giving Lankford the hutzpah to refuse any public debates with his challenger claiming the lame excuse it’s a “sideshow.” As for me, it smells more like fear of being publicly exposed as a Trump-hater in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma governor just signed a bill last night into law that bans the nonbinary gender option on the birth certificate in his state.

 

Via NBC News (the AP):

 

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a bill Tuesday explicitly prohibiting the use of nonbinary gender markers on state birth certificates, a ban experts say is the first of its kind in the nation.

 

The bill followed a flap last year over the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s agreement in a civil case allowing a nonbinary option. The birth certificate in that case was issued to an Oklahoma-born Oregon resident who sued after the agency initially refused the request. People who are nonbinary do not identify with traditional male or female gender assignments.

 

Full stop. To the Associated Press author who wrote the article, people are NOT nonbinary. They may choose to believe that about themselves, but they are either male or female. Stop with the propaganda.

News of the settlement prompted outrage among Republicans, including Stitt, who along with fellow conservatives in a number of GOP-led states have been engaged in a culture war over issues like restricting LGBTQ and abortion rights that drive the party’s base in an election year. Stitt’s appointee to lead the agency abruptly resigned the next day, and the governor then promptly issued an executive order prohibiting any changes to a person’s gender on birth certificates, despite the settlement agreement. A civil rights group has challenged the executive order in federal court, but the state has not yet responded.

 

Whoa whoa whoa! Now the AP is claiming that Republicans have been engaged in a ‘culture war’ against LGBT whatever rights around the country for election purposes. That’s like saying Ukrainians are attacking Russians for traveling to Ukraine. It’s completely wrong and backwards.

 

Just like Russia invaded Ukraine, the LGBTers have invaded our institutions and culture, inventing absurd rights that never existed so they can normalize their mental illness and sexual proclivities.

GOP-led states are simply defending the culture which has been apart of this country since its founding, a culture grounded in Christianity.

 

Man, the propaganda is deep in this article.

Many states only offer male or female gender options on birth certificates, but Oklahoma is the first to write the nonbinary prohibition into law, according to Lambda Legal, the civil rights group suing Oklahoma.

 

Currently, 15 states and the District of Columbia specifically allow a gender marker designation outside of male or female, according to the National Center for Transgender Equality. That number will increase on July 1 when Vermont’s new statute goes into effect.

 

“People are free to believe whatever they want about their identity, but science has determined people are either biologically male or female at birth,” said Oklahoma Rep. Sheila Dills, the House sponsor of the bill, in a statement after the bill passed the House last week. “We want clarity and truth on official state documents. Information should be based on established medical fact and not an ever-changing social dialogue.”

 

Dills is exactly right and I’m glad the governor signed this bill into law. I’m sure the crazies will challenge it, but I believe ultimately Oklahoma will prevail.

Because of where I grew up Oklahoma Summer humidity has often been an annual gripe for me. BUT TODAY I read my Americans For Limited Government email dated 11/29/21 which sends Daily Torch articles (not really certain of the connection). I wish AFLG sent this Daily Torch article dated 11/24/21 earlier. Oklahoma state Sen. Nathan Dahm has filed legislation to ensure Oklahomans who use self-defense won’t have to face trial for political reasons.  Under Senate Bill 1120, victims of malicious prosecution would be able to receive compensation for expenses and damages.

 

Kyle Rittenhouse was recently acquitted of all charges in the deaths of two men and the wounding of a third during a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 2020.  Rittenhouse had claimed self-defense in the shootings.

 

“Kyle Rittenhouse should never have been charged.  The video evidence from early on showed it was lawful self-defense,” Dahm said.  “It is our duty to protect the rights of the people we represent, and the right to self-defense is paramount.  This bill will ensure that what happened to Kyle Rittenhouse cannot happen to the people of Oklahoma.”

 

Under Dahm’s legislation, if a person is charged with murder but is found not guilty due to justifiable homicide, the state would have to reimburse the defendant for all reasonable costs, including loss of wages, legal fees incurred, and other expenses involved in their defense.  When a homicide is determined to be justified and the accused establishes that they had sustained injury due to malicious prosecution, then that person will be awarded “fair and just compensation.”

 

SB 1120 further states that in order to support a claim of malicious prosecution, the claimant must establish that the prosecution was instituted or instigated by the prosecutor and was without probable cause; that the prosecution had legally and finally been terminated in favor of the claimant; and that as a result of the criminal prosecution, the claimant sustained injury.

 

Malice may be established if the motive for the prosecution was something other than a desire to bring an offender to justice, or that it was one with ill will or hatred, or willfully done in a wanton or oppressive manner and in conscious disregard of the claimant’s rights.  Under the legislation, a prosecutor may be held personally liable to a claimant if malicious prosecution is established.

 

Americans for Limited Government President Richard Manning applauded Dahm’s efforts. “This is exactly why Justice Louis Brandeis called our states ‘laboratories of democracy,” Manning said. “If this measure passes and proves successful in protecting an individual’s right to self-defense in Oklahoma, it ought to be adopted in every state of the union, and at the federal level.”

 

Immediately following the Rittenhouse acquittal, Manning issued a statement in support of the verdict.

 

“Justice was served in the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse, breathing new life into the presumption of innocence and upholding the fundamental principle of the right to self defense,” Manning said. “The jury, which has been subject to death threats and intimidation, has proven they were willing to put that aside to uphold the American system of justice and the presumption of innocence. It is our prayer that they are left alone and able to return to their regular lives as unsung, anonymous heroes defending liberty and the justice system that is essential for the rule of law to prevail.

 

“The irresponsible major media companies and the President of the United States that each tried and convicted Rittenhouse based upon deliberate misinformation and libel should be held accountable by Mr. Rittenhouse using our nation’s tort system. Let justice be done.”

 

Rittenhouse, who is now 18, lives in Antioch, a northern suburb of Chicago about 15 miles from Kenosha. On August 25 of last year when he was 17, Rittenhouse decided to patrol the downtown Kenosha area alongside other armed men in order to protect a used car dealership from looting and vandalism. The city had devolved into rioting over the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man, by a white Kenosha police officer.

 

Rittenhouse took a medical kit and armed himself with a Smith & Wesson M&P15, which is an AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle that police say his friend illegally bought for him.

 

While guarding the used car dealership, he was chased by protesters and ended up fatally shooting two people, Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and injuring a third, Gaige Grosskreutz. The defendant and the three men he shot are all white.

 

He was arrested and charged with five felony charges and one misdemeanor charge. The most serious charge was intentional homicide, Wisconsin’s top murder charge, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison. The others were reckless homicide, attempted homicide, two counts of reckless endangerment, and being a minor illegally in possession of a firearm.

 

The judge dismissed the misdemeanor firearm charge, which was considered the easiest charge for the state to prove. Previously, Rittenhouse was also charged with violating curfew, but that charge was dismissed by the judge as well.

Gov. Kevin Stitt has signed bills to limit abortions in Oklahoma, make the state a “Second Amendment Sanctuary” and prevent the government from closing places of worship during emergency situations.

 

The bills were hotly debated in Oklahoma’s Republican-led Legislature, but had widespread support among GOP legislators.

 

Here’s a look at some of the legislation the governor signed Monday.

 

Stitt signed three bills that seek to limit the number of abortions performed in Oklahoma.

 

One or more of the laws is likely to result in a court challenge because critics have said the measures interfere with a woman’s constitutional right to seek an abortion.

 

Gloria Pedro, Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes regional manager, said the laws are designed to punish abortion providers, shame women and block access to safe and legal abortions.

 

“Politicians should not insert themselves into a person’s private medical decisions about pregnancy or between doctors and their patients,” Pedro said.

 

Stitt signed House Bill 2441, which would prohibit an abortion if a fetal heartbeat can be detected. In some cases, a fetal heartbeat can be detected as early as six weeks into a pregnancy — before many women know they are pregnant.

 

Under the bill, any doctor who performs an abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected could be charged with homicide.

 

Stitt also signed House Bill 1102 to revoke the medical license of doctors who perform abortions that are not medically necessary to prevent “irreversible physical impairment” or death of the mother.

 

The governor also signed House Bill 1904 to require that abortions be performed only by physicians who are board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, which critics said will severely limit the number of qualified medical professionals who can perform abortions.

 

When Stitt was campaigning for governor, he vowed to sign every piece of anti-abortion legislation to come across his desk. On Monday, Stitt said he was upholding that promise.

 

“When I ran for office, I told Oklahomans that I would every piece of pro-life legislation that hit my desk, and I stay true to that promise,” he said.

 

As for the threat of legal challenges, “we’ll let the courts work out if any of those get overturned,” he said.

 

In 2019, 4,424 abortions were performed in Oklahoma, according to the most recent data from the State Department of Health.

 

Julie Burkhart, founder and CEO of Trust Women, chastised the governor for signing the “radical and unconstitutional measures.” Trust Women operates an abortion clinic in Oklahoma City.

 

“He is wasting taxpayer money and violating Oklahomans’ privacy,” she said in a statement. “The people of Oklahoma would be better served by government officials improving health care access for Oklahomans.”

 

These laws will take effect Nov. 1.

 

Oklahoma has become a “Second Amendment Sanctuary State” under a new law that took effect upon Stitt’s signature.

 

Senate Bill 631 by Sen. Warren Hamilton, R-McCurtain, and Rep. Sean Roberts, R-Hominy, seeks to preempt federal firearm laws.

 

“Any federal, state, county or municipal act, law, executive order, administrative order, court order, rule, policy or regulation ordering the buy-back, confiscation or surrender of firearms, firearm accessories or ammunition from law-abiding citizens of this state shall be considered an infringement on the rights of citizens to keep and bear arms,” the law reads.

 

“This measure builds a wall of protection around our Constitutionally-protected, God-given, blood-bought rights to keep and bear arms,” Hamilton said in a statement.

 

Stitt also signed the “Oklahoma Religious Freedom Act” that aims to prevent the closure of houses of worship during emergencies.

 

The new law comes after some places of worship in Oklahoma and other states were forced to close or operate under certain limits during the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

House Bill 2648 bars government entities from closing places of worship, saying that “shall be considered a substantial burden” even if the emergency order applies generally.

 

However, the law wouldn’t stop government officials from imposing other restrictions on churches, such as capacity limits, mask mandates or social distancing requirements.

 

“This country was founded by individuals seeking freedom to worship in the manner they so choose without persecution,” said House Majority Floor Leader Jon Echols, R-Oklahoma City. “I can think of nothing more patriotic than protecting those rights for future generations.”

 

During the pandemic, Norman set restrictions on local businesses and places of worship. Norman Mayor Breea Clark came under fire for allowing some businesses to reopen before places of worship, a decision she quickly reversed.

 

HB 2648 will take effect Nov. 1.
