Key Establishment Republicans like Senator McCain and Speaker of the House John Boehner have the National Security Five of which the primary target of criticism is Rep. Michele Bachmann. Bachmann is the focus of undeserving heat because it was from her Office that a query was sent out to various Inspectors of Inspector General Office asking for reasons that there are Muslims in government connected to Radical Islam yet have Security Clearance to access of sensitive CLASSIFIED material.

 

That which particularly rubbed Establishment Republicans, Democrats and Muslim Apologists raw was that one of those Muslims that have access to CLASSIFIED material is long time advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.  These Huma supporters were rubbed raw by Bachmann.

 

I haven’t heard specifically but I am guessing Hillary raised a stink directly with some powerful people in Congress and the Obama Administration. Since Hillary is linked to a power machine thanks to her skirt chasing husband and former President Slick Willy Clinton.

 

So here’s the scenario: For me there appears to be the exercise of Dem power to protect a close advisor and people are falling in line behind Hillary’s complaints. I suspect there is a vast ignoring to the potential harm Huma presents to National Security is because Hillary is still very much in the hunt for the Office of President of the United States. This means politicians and government bureaucrats are very hesitant to sow conflict with a potential most powerful person in the world.

 

It is unlikely that the Department of Justice will do anything as long as Eric Holder is the Attorney General. Holder’s cover-up with Fast and Furious that includes Obama compliance in not pushing for Holder cooperation leads me to think Huma Abedin is being protected.

 

So the question is: Why would a powerful Democrat like Hillary double deal against American citizens with the Muslim Brotherhood? I am convinced Hillary is a Leftist ideologue with no love for religion whether it Christianity, Judaism or Islam. So would Hillary be complicit with the enemies of American culture to protect a potential Muslim Brotherhood advocate in Huma Abedin?

 

Of course it is all speculation; however there is something fishy why no one seems to be on Michele Bachmann’s side when there is such a huge amount of evidence that Huma Abedin is connected to the Muslim Brother.

Deadline for IG’s to respond to Bachmann letters approaches; handling of Fast and Furious a good model

The longer that Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Trent Franks (R-AZ), Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA), and Tom Rooney (R-FL) remain on an island with respect to their Republican colleagues either denouncing them or leaving them stranded, the more courageous those five look. The mountains of evidence that have burgeoned forth since their initial letters were sent to various IG’s on June 13th seem to vindicate their concerns on a near daily basis.

 

Despite the occasional reports of another Republican politician either refusing to stand with Bachmann, et. al. or the publishing of another left-wing hit piece devoid of facts, it might seem like this story isn’t getting the coverage it should; Fox News was eager to publish Ed Rollins’ smear of Bachmann but has all but avoided the other side of the debate, despite that side having far more facts.

 

Nonetheless, as the evidence mounts, the deadline for all of the IG’s who received letters from Bachmann, et. al. is fast approaching. On that note, each of the five letters, sent to the IG’s for the Director of National Intelligence, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and Department of State, respectively, ended with the following paragraph:

 

Please forward your recommended “corrective action,” including a discussion of its consistency with the Constitution and laws of the United States, together with your other findings, to the undersigned in unclassified and, if necessary, classified form within 90 days of your receipt of this letter.

 

Those 90 days expire on September 13th, about three weeks from now.

 

As we learned with the Fast and Furious investigation, there were typically two ways recipients of such letters – usually at the Department of Justice – reacted. Most often, that reaction involved blowing off the deadline in a show of disrespect to Congress or in tactical hopes the issue would fade away into the abyss. On the occasions where the DOJ actually responded to letters sent on behalf of Congressional offices, the result was often worse.

 

For example, in a February 4, 2011 letter to Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA), Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich asserted that any allegations the ATF allowed guns to ‘walk’ into Mexico were ‘false’. After ten months of stonewalling and obfuscation, the Justice Department ultimately had to withdraw that letter because guns were allowed to ‘walk’.

 

Oversight Committee Chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Grassley – ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee – fought valiantly against Holder’s Justice Department and continue to do so. Faced with limited options, Issa’s Oversight Committee recently filed a civil suit against Holder in an attempt to get its hand on documents subpoenaed by Congress that Holder refused to release. The reason there is no criminal suit against Holder – who was found in criminal contempt of Congress – is because the individual responsible for pursuing such a course is… Holder’s subordinate. In fact, as Congress – in a bipartisan vote – found Holder in both criminal and civil contempt of Congress, President Barack Obama asserted Executive Privilege to prevent the release of those very same documents.

 

The Fast and Furious investigation got as far as it did because Grassley and Issa led. It didn’t get as far as it could have because House Leadership didn’t lead (not so subtle reference to John Boehner). Throughout, Speaker Boehner appeared disinterested in pursuing Fast and Furious to its just conclusion while expressing tepid and infrequent support for Issa’s committee. In fact, he scheduled the Eric Holder contempt hearings on the exact same day that the Obamacare ruling was to be handed down by the Supreme Court.

 

Incidentally, Boehner defended Huma Abedin and attacked Bachmann.

 

In both cases, Boehner was wrong.

 

In short, we urge Bachmann, et. al. to respond forcefully if the IG’s do not respect the 90 day deadline given to them by Bachmann, et. al.

 

Follow Issa’s Fast and Furious model. Don’t quit. Here is a clip from Oversight Committee member and House Republican freshman, Rep. Trey Gowdy, who exemplified – during the Fast and Furious investigation – an unadulterated passion for Justice that should be part of the very fabric of Congress.

Contrast that with John Boehner on 60 Minutes, shortly after he knew he would become Speaker as a result of the 2010 elections. What’s most troubling about this is that Boehner is crying about his country’s kids and grandkids not having ‘a shot at the American dream’, which is exactly what Bachmann, et. al. are trying to protect by asking tough, yet legitimate questions.

Dear Colleagues:

I write to gather more information regarding the allegations you made in letters dated June 13, 2012 to the Inspectors General of the Departments of State, Justice, and Homeland Security, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, stating that individuals and organizations allegedly associated with the Muslim Brotherhood have nefariously influenced the U.S. government.

In your letters, you allege that:

• “Brotherhood operatives” within the U.S. government may have directly influenced the U.S. intelligence community’s assessment of the Muslim Brotherhood, as presented by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper in testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on February 10,2011;

• The mother, brother and deceased father of Huma Abedin, Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State 1-lillary Clinton, are connected to the Muslim Brotherhood, and that she, too, by extension, may be working on the organization’s behalf;

• The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, an international organization of 57 countries to which President George W. Bush created a special envoy position, is “determined to impose shariah worldwide” and undermine the U.S. Constitution;

• The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), an umbrella organization of American Muslim groups, is “the largest Muslim Brotherhood front in the United States,” and

• The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) and Muslim Advocates, two civil rights organizations, “exercise influence in ways that align with Muslim Brotherhood agendas.”

As evidence for these allegations, you reference Muslim BrotherhoodinAmerica.com, a Web site created by Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy (CSP). Mr. Gaffney has a long history of making unsubstantiated anti-Muslim allegations, including:

• Accusing then-ISAF Commander General David Petraeus of “submission” to Islamic law because he condemned Florida pastor Terry Jones’ burning of a Quran;

• Accusing presidential candidate Herman Cain after meeting with ISNA of meeting with “the largest Muslim Brotherhood front in the United States” (language that appears verbatim in your letters);

• Accusing New Jersey Governor Chris Christie of “corruption” and “treason” for appointing a Muslim lawyer to be a judge;

• Accusing anti-tax advocate Grover Norquist of “enabling and empowering Muslim Brotherhood influence operations against our movement and our country”;

• Accusing former Bush Administration official Suhail Khan of conducting a “Muslim Brotherhood Influence Operation” against the American Conservative Union (ACU), the host of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), and

• Accusing Republican Virginia House of Delegates member David Ramadan of waging “stealth jihad” by seeking elected office.

Mr. Gaffney’s views have been widely discredited, including by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and conservative organizations. The FBI said his research made “unsubstantiated assertions” and relied on “outdated information.” After the ACU board conducted a full investigation of Mr. Gaffney’s accusations against Grover Norquist and Suhail Khan, the board found Mr. Gaffney’s accusations “reprehensible,” “baseless” and “false and unfounded.” The ACU even barred Mr. Gaffney’s participation from CPAC in 2011.

Despite Mr. Gaffney’s record of unsubstantiated allegations, you appear to have based your letters to the Inspectors General on his views.

I request that you provide my office a full accounting of the sources you used to make the serious allegations against the individuals and organizations in your letters. If there is not credible, substantial evidence for your allegations, I sincerely hope that you will publically clear their names.

And then something unusual happened—at least unusual as far as how prepared most Members of Congress are to defend their actions when it comes to protecting our nation against the threat of radical Islam. Representative Bachmann politely replied to Congressman Ellison’s letter in her own 16 page—multi-footnoted—correspondence offering detail after detail about why the letters to the IGs were necessary.

As usual, many in the mainstream media are attacking Representative Bachmann and her colleagues. They are doing so by working to shift the focus from the issue at hand—examining whether the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated specific federal agencies—to a tangential issue.

We cannot let that happen. We must send a strong message of support for the calls for investigations by the Inspectors General. That is the issue at hand, and that must be our continued focus.
While this issue is receiving much attention by both the media and up on Capitol Hill, the U.S. Congress is watching and listening. What will they hear from the people back home?
