A Facebook friend – David Etchells
– or perhaps someone pretending to be him, sent me a Facebook message about a
movie to be released entitled “Corpus Christi”.
The message stipulated the
movie portrayed Jesus and the Apostles as homosexuals. After reading that I was
extremely displeased. My displeasure stems from placing God’s Word to a higher
level than the cultural manipulation of the global Left. The global Left would
have you believe that whatever feels just to culturally humanistic
(man-directed) trumps what the Creator of the heavens and the earth says what
is Just and good.
I was getting ready to blog
the Facebook message.
The thing is I did notice the
message had the flavor of a chain email. To make sure I didn’t get mud on my
face I decided to do a little checking on the information.
THERE IS NO SUCH MOVIE! This
is an email hoax that has been going on for nearly a decade. Apparently, the
hoax has been going on for nearly a decade.
The Facebook message sent out
by David was relatively harmless because it did not advocate the signing of a
petition or the enticement of funds to fight the release of the movie. David’s
message was simply spread the word to make others aware.
There was a play about a Gay Jesus titled "Corpus Christi", it was NEVER turned into a movie.
The play opened in 1998 and took place in the 1950s.
There was a documentary made titled "Corpus Christ", but had NOTHING to do with homosexuality.
There are many sources
exposing the hoax, but I am pointing toward two. The first is a Christian
website in which the homepage is Jesus-Resurrection.info. The second source is Left-Wing
fact checker Snopes.
Corpus
Christi Movie
The
Corpus Christi Movie is causing some strong reactions. Have you heard of it? There is a play by Terrence
McNally called "Corpus Christi," which portrays a gay Jesus and gay
apostles. Set in Corpus Christi (body of Christ), Texas in the 1950s, it
premiered in 1998 at the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York City.
The play should
not be confused with a documentary film (1997) also named
Corpus Christi which was made by filmmakers Gerard Mordillat and Jerome Prieur.
The film explores the historical figure of Jesus and in no way portrays Jesus
as gay. It has no connection whatsoever to the McNally play.
There
is an email circulating which says that the "Corpus Christi Movie"
(distinct from the documentary mentioned above) is going to be released (summer
of 2009) as a movie. …

would find that there is no such thing as "The Corpus Christi
Movie" talked about in the email and that such email rumors have
been circulating since at least 2000. The Corpus Christi movie is not even
indexed at the Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com) and
Google doesn't show anything for it.
Note
that more recent listings at the Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) for
"Corpus Christi" are not for any 2009 release as suggested by the
email.
Satan
operates on fear. As Christians (while we want to be informed of what is true)
we should be very careful about spreading anything that can generate fear (even
if it is true).

Also,
think twice about taking part in petitions or like actions that would restrict
others freedom of expression. God gives us all a free will, even a right to
choose to follow Him or not. Correctly understanding this is a wonderful
revelation.
Rather
than worry about people who might promote the Corpus Christi Movie, we would be
better to share with others - and show in our own lives - true examples of
Christianity.
Incidentally,
Terrence McNally, who was responsible for the play, grew up in Corpus Christi,
Texas.

demonstrates a good petition never goes away, even when the issue it addresses
has long since been settled (or was never really an issue in the first place).
The “gay Jesus film” petition first hit the fan in 1984, and by the end of 1985
more than a million Christians had written protest letters in an attempt to
have the non-existent movie it referenced banned.

non-existent. There never was such a film in production, but petitions likes
these were circulated anyway:

attached form letter of protest and mail it to the Attorney General of Alabama.

The movie "Corpus Christi " is due to be released
this June to August. It is a disgusting film set to appear in America later
this year which depicts Jesus and his disciples as homosexuals!
As a play, this has already been in theaters for a while.
It's called "Corpus Christi" which means "The Body of
Christ". It's a revolting mockery of our Lord. But we Christians can make
a difference. That's why I am sending this e-mail to you.
If you do send this around, we just might be able to prevent
this film from being shown in Australia, Canada and America etc. Let's stand
for what we believe and stop the mockery of Jesus Christ our Savior.
Where do we stand as Christians? I am forwarding this to all
I think will respect and appreciate being informed. Please help us prevent such
offenses against our Lord. There is no petition to sign, no time limit, or
minimum number of people to send this to. It will take you less than 2 minutes!
If you are not interested and do not have the 2 minutes it
will take to do this, please don't complain if God does not seem to have time
for you. Imagine what would happen if this film were depicting Mohammad in the
same way...the Islamic world would be in flames!!!
Apparently, some regions in Europe have already successfully
banned the film. All we need is a lot of prayer and a lot of E-mails. JUST GET
THE WORD OUT!
Will God be able to find at least 50 righteous people who
are willing to express their concern and voice their opinion against this act
of blasphemy?
