Cheri Berens writes a decent exposé on the Muslim Brotherhood in America which includes the name dropping of a few Muslim-American organizations connected to the MB as well as the Saudi-Wahhabi influence on Muslims in the USA. The expose is written with clarity yet is quite understandable for the non-academic trying to grasp how much a threat Islam in the USA can be especially under the guidance of very narrow and literalists of the MB and Wahhabism.

The Moslem Brotherhood used a strategy consisting of four phases

The Moslem Brotherhood has been working their strategies in America for over 50 years. It began in 1962 with the arrival of members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood. They were followed by the Pakistani Moslem Brotherhood in 1972 and the Palestinian branch of the Moslem Brotherhood in 1981. The fourth phase gradually emerged as an active movement comprised of young radicalized converts, jihadists, and second generation immigrants. Immigrants play an enormous role in todays Phase Four as we shall see in a moment. Throughout all four phases, the strategy of self-victimization was used, and continues to be used, to create false claims of racism or prejudice to gather sympathy and to silence possible critics. They also employ religious and ethnic separatism to gain special status and privileges. (1)

Phase One

The first phase goals were to gather and unify Moslem populations in America by the creation of an organizational superstructure designed to take control of mosques and Moslem social and professional activities in the United States. Moslem Brotherhood members were and are used to provide training, educational materials, construction projects, mosque building, social welfare services and legal and political representation. Additional funds from Saudi Arabia were used to gain inroads into businesses, major corporate boards, media and massive publishing organizations. 

The Moslem Brotherhood (MB) created their principal subversive organization, the Moslem Students Association (MSA), and then MSA spun off more elements of the superstructure including, but not limited to: North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), the Moslem American Society (MAS), and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). 

MSA together with MAS also created many other branch organizations within the Moslem Brotherhood superstructure in America such as:

The Islamic Medical Association
The Islamic Media Association
Association of Moslem Scientists and Engineers
Association of Moslem Social Scientists
Moslem American Society 
Moslem Arab Youth Association             
The Islamic Circle of North America

Together, these organizations all follow the same goals and work within the Moslem Brotherhood and MSA superstructure system.

From 1962 on, the Moslem Student Association (MSA) has been placing Moslem Brotherhood Youth members inside universities throughout America with the goal of making American youth feel comfortable with Moslem presence on campuses. Moslem girls wearing head scarfs were later used to further serve this purpose, along with false claims of persecution, suggesting that Moslem girls wearing head scarfs must fight for acceptance when in truth, there was no need to fight for acceptancethis tactic was used to draw attention to their presence and make young vulnerable American students feel sympathy for Moslems. Over time, as visibility grew, special weeks of ethnic food and music on campus was introduced, causing American students to be even more comfortable with Moslem presence on campus as well as enticing students to participate in special Moslem events. Food and music always attracts students and these events gave the Moslem Student Association the opportunity to display appealing handouts and literature about Islam.  

The Moslem Student Association (MSA) establishes and maintains Islamic groups at universities to this day--since its creation in 1962. They coordinate and support other MSA groups at universities throughout America and unify these groups to achieve their goals. The MSA created the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) for students who have graduated from university so that former students can continue working towards the primary goals of the MB and MSA. Former students are then filtered into groups to continue the goals but are well concealed under professional façades such as: The Islamic Medical Association, Islamic Media Association, Association of Moslem Scientists and Engineers, and The Association of Moslem Social Scientists. All of these groups are part of the superstructure of the Moslem Brotherhood in America.

Another major goal of MSA is to establish an Islamic identity, and to retain an Islamic identity, throughout the college years; and, to promote an Islamic lifestyle on American university campuses. The overall goal of these Moslem groups is to integrate Islam and Islamic culture into American life, starting with university students. MSA created ISNA for students from university to enable them to continue mobilizing and increasing Moslem political activity in America via their chosen professions.

Since 1963 MSA has been involved in publishing Islamic publications. Books about Islam are heavily distributed on campuses, but also in mosques throughout America. Many of the publications used on American campuses are meant to create interest in Islam and conversion to Islam. Many of these publications offer a severe form of Sunni Islam. By the 1970s legal councils formed on American campuses where Islamic Law could be attained on religious and social issues (instead of American laws); thus promoting a resistance to assimilating into the American culture and instead to purposefully perpetuate Islamic Laws instead of American laws and to create a separate and distinct Islamic society within America. It must be mentioned here that practicing Moslems do not believe in democracy or human rights. This is because the Quran teaches and instructs Moslems that people are not equal. Islam is the very opposite of democracy (see "Inside the Quran: Hatred and Violence" in this website; it explains how the Quran teaches that people are not equal and that equal rights cannot exist).

Highlights of Phase One
In 1962, the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood, with Saudi Arabian financial backing, entered the U.S. with goals and strategies.

The MB established baseline organizations and placed its members in universities throughout America and thereby started the recruitment phase.
The MB established economic and ideological domination in mosques, professional societies and charities.

The MB recruited and trained local leadership.

The MB established a covert coordinated network of groups within a superstructure.

The MB indoctrinated young Moslem intellectuals on college campuses.

The MB co-opted politicians and academics via large monetary gifts, contributions and endowments.

During this phase there was a discreet establishment of leadership and organizations.

The Moslem Students Association (MSA) created the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) in 1973. This organization was backed by the Moslem Brotherhood and was the predecessor of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). NAIT was a Saudi-backed organization based in Indiana that owned Islamic properties and promoted waaf (Islamic endowments) in America. It is the financial arm of the Moslem Students Association. NAIT financed and held titles to mosques, Islamic schools, and other real estate to pool assets. It also published and distributed Islamic literature, provided legal advice to Moslem organizations, and facilitated and coordinated Islamic community projects. NAIT facilitates the establishment of mosques and Islamic schools by extending interest-free loans to accelerate the growth of Moslem communities.

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) is a Moslem umbrella group created by the Moslem Student Association (MSA). It has been described in the media as the largest Moslem organization in North America. ISNA traces its origins to a meeting of several Moslem student organizations in 1963, all established by the Moslem Brotherhood. In 1983, ISNA completed a $21 million dollar headquarters ($49,725,025 today) in suburban Indianapolis using funds raised from Saudi Arabian and other Gulf countries. ISNA provides various services for Moslem immigrants and Moslem communities throughout America. Mosque building is an important step because Islamic doctrine is taught in mosques and as is tied directly to violence and extremist preaching. 

Years later it was uncovered that three of these major organizations within the Moslem Brotherhoods superstructure were affiliated with terrorism. In 2007 the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit held that "the government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA, and NAIT with the Islamic Association for Palestine and with Hamas." (see: "The Investigative Project on Terrorism" in source list at bottom).

Phase Two 

Phase two was marked by the arrival of the Pakistani branch of the Moslem Brotherhood and its establishment of a mass Islamic proselytization, conversion, and recruitment operation throughout the US. The leadership of MSA was, and continues to be, formed via the guidance of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood. After the Pakistani Moslem Brotherhood entered America in 1971, the Pakistani members began recruiting young people from MSA and American youth who were newly converted to Islam. The number of converts during this phase multiplied enormously. Their particular goal within the US was to create a Moslem political base that would have a strong enough voice to alter the American political system from within. The Pakistani members created and provided the body politic and the manpower to staff and carry out the goals of the superstructure. The Pakistani Brotherhood also created extremist camps in rural locations in over twenty states within the U.S.  During this phase there was a gradual public appearance in which the organizations within the superstructure began to utilize various public activities. They successfully began to infiltrate various sectors of the government.  

Highlights of Phase Two

The Pakistani Moslem Brotherhood entered the U.S. in 1971 to work in coordination with the Egyptian MBs superstructure.

This was a period of mass proselytization and conversions of young Americans.
Armed Training Compounds were established in rural areas throughout the U.S.
Prison inmates were targeted throughout America for conversion and recruitment to the extremist camps.

The establishment and emphasis on the extreme form of Sunni Islam, from which the Moslem Brotherhood prevail and originated, began at this time and publications of their doctrines were placed on campuses, in mosques, and in prison recruitment pamphlets.

African Americans and Hispanics were highly targeted for conversion to Islam during this phase.

A program promoting isolation and alienation from mainstream America was heavily used at this time. The use of Moslem women wearing head scarves helped achieve this goal. Head scarfs are used as a strategy tool to create a fake persecution and create sympathy. They are also used to employ religious separatism in order to gain special status and privileges. 

An important FACT about Islamic Doctrine:

According to the teachings of Mohammad, the main principle for a Moslem community in a non-Moslem country is that it must be separate and distinct. Mohammad outlined the rules for Moslems who immigrate. Mohammad stated that Moslems must form a separate body and keep their own laws and eventually make the host country comply with Islamic laws. 

Mohammads teachings forbid Moslems to immigrate to a non-Moslem country if they are doing it to pursue the goal of their own personal gain. But if they immigrate with the ultimate goal of spreading Islam and making Islam victorious, or at least if this is a part of the reason for their immigration, then; according to Mohammad, they are allowed pleasure and personal gain. Mohammad said that Moslems who immigrate should never integrate with the native society. Moslem immigration is considered to be a transitional period of preparation for changing the native society from an open society to an Islamic society. 

This phase included widespread distribution of pamphlets, brochures and books. Very large Islamic publishing houses were created to mass produce enormous quantities of publications for distribution at universities, mosques, and any social or professional avenue available to them.

Publishing Houses

From the time of its creation, the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) produced vast amounts of Islamic literature. NAIT stated that Islam was "misrepresented" in America and therefore these mass quantities of publications were needed. In this way they were able to produce and promote their extremist form of Islam. The American Trust Publications (ATP) was established by NAIT in 1976. ATP publishes an enormous quantity of Islamic books focusing on Islamic doctrine, faith and practice, and, the supremacy and the glorification of Islam.

NAIT has openly stated that "No political system or material power should put hindrances in the way of preaching Islam. If someone does this, then it is the duty of Islam to fight him until either he is killed or until he declares his submission." 

NAIT holds title to hundreds of mosques throughout America including the extremely large Islamic center outside Washington DC where the Fort Hood terrorist and some of the 9/11 hijackers worshipped. The promotion of violent doctrine is pushed via publications available at mosques and recommended by the imams at mosques (see also Kedar & Yerushalmi "Sharia and Violence in American Mosques" 2011; Kedar & Yerushalmi Sharia Adherence Mosque Survey" 2011).

Saudi Arabia funded NAIT in order to help facilitate the spread of the Moslem Brotherhood's extremist, more violent-based form of Islam. NAIT money helped Moslem communities build mosques and where those mosques then promoted the more violent, jihadi-based Moslem Brotherhood doctrine inside those mosques.

Phase Three

In 1981 the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP) was established in Florida. The IAP is an illegal terrorist front organization which is a branch of Hamas. Hamas calls itself the Palestine Branch of the Moslem Brotherhood. IAP and Hamas created the Holy Land Foundation. The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) was created as an Islamist Law-fare operation which masqueraded as a civil rights organization to create a public and political presence designed to support all four phases of Moslem Brotherhood subversion. CAIR coaches Moslems and lawyers to create false lawsuits claiming racism or prejudice. This was the phase where we begin to find Islamic prayer rooms added to schools and universities, halal food offered at school and university cafeterias, crosses taken down from Catholic universitiesall via claims of racism when in reality there was no racism. The Moslem Brotherhood preys on the American weakness of being overly politically correct, so much so, that Americans are silenced into recklessly removing any common sense suspicion regarding what might be behind these false claims of racism (see: "The Holy Land Foundation and CAIR trial" in source list at bottom of page).

Phase Three was an escalation phase and was partly accomplished by utilizing mass media.   This mass media implementation is in even greater use today.

By the 1990s MSA was firmly established in our top universities: MIT, Harvard and many others. The MSA groups in the California State University system began to be extremely active in political issues (there are 23 Cal-State Universities).

By 1990, the Islamic student groups initiated another large university event, Islam Awareness Week, an entire week devoted to the goal of introducing Islam to all university campuses throughout America. At first this was to introduce Islam, but over time, as American students began to get used to the Islamic presence, more activities were added to promote Islams principles and goals. Tables offering free literature and talks were given, often by very highly trained student campaigners for Islam (trained Moslem Brotherhood specialists), but speeches today are also given by top extremist Moslem figures. Movies are shown and ethnic music and food are provided to entice university students to get involved and to listen to the speeches. These events glorify Islam and make Islam seem ideal to vulnerable American youth. 

During this period, several of MSAs most active members followed the teachings of Abdullah Azzam, a Moslem Brotherhood member who was Osama bin Ladens mentor and a founding member of al-Qaeda. 

Highlights of this phase

In 1981 the Palestinian Moslem Brotherhood (Hamas) entered America.
In 1988 the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) was formed and promoted false cases of racism. CAIR offered free legal support and defense as well as promoted the racist strategy to make Americans falsely believe Moslems were being persecuted. This silenced Americans and the fear of being politically "incorrect" began and intensified.

An aggressive political agenda began at this time.

The MB in America used the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to politicize students on college campuses, most notably found in the 23 Cal-State University campuses.

The MB implemented political life on campuses by marginalizing other viewpoints and displacing those viewpoints, usually via "racist" threats, but their media organizations were also put to work at this time to deny Americans knowledge.

The establishment of several propaganda organizations began.

The establishment of vast fundraising organizations began.

Phase Four 

Phase four was marked by the emergence of a radicalized, increasingly violent Moslem population in the United States comprised of both immigrants and U.S. born citizens. Their influence, often hostile and confrontational, is now beginning to be felt in a variety of ways including, but not limited to:

Confrontational political actions (such as the Ground Zero Mosque).

Workplace disruptions based on false claims of religious persecution or racism.

Demands for changes to school calendars to recognize Moslem holidays; and prayer rooms integrated into schools and universities (see info re: Prayer Rooms to the left of this column in bold blue).

Demands for zoning exemptions to build mega mosques designed to intimidate local communities by physically dwarfing traditional churches and synagogues, and thereby ostracizing the native community and often forcing them to re-locate due to various problems, including escalated violence.
Use of head scarfs became even more public and often confrontational. The head scarf began to be used more and more often to re-identify and put Moslems in the forefront, but also used to impart special religious rights (see info re: Head Scarfs to the left of this column in bold blue).
The Somali branch of the Moslem Brotherhoodal-Shabaab, entered America to train and radicalize Moslems in America.

The head scarf is also used to create "false accusations" of religious persecution or used to make claims that Moslems are not being allowed their "religious identity" when this is untrue. There is a reliance on Americans succumbing to this strategy because of the American desire not be considered racist, or to not be politically incorrect. Muslim groups relied on the fact that Americans have no knowledge about whether head scarfs are indeed a religious requirement (which they are not). In their effort to be non-racist, or not to be perceived as persecuting Moslems (via the headscarf strategy), Americans were strategically silenced from speaking out or even questioning the motives behind the false racist claims or claims of religious persecution.

Americans need to educate themselves about Islam and Islamic Doctrine. See the side column on the left for information you should know. 

1990 to the present Highlights:

* Massive & more intense mosque building campaigns throughout 

Mosques are built in locations of great importance as well as 
    built extremely large to intimidate and assert supremacy of 
    Islam over traditional American religious identity.

Sponsoring and engaging in anti-American/Western hate 
    speeches in mosques. 

The Somali Moslem Brotherhood entered the U.S. in 1996 to 
    promote and train at camps and to radicalize Moslems in 
    America and the newly converted in America. 

Pursuit of radicalization of Moslems by encouraging and 
    condoning acts of overt political violence. 

Facilitation of homegrown terrorism while running a 
    sophisticated and very aggressive denial and deception 

Training and use of weapons began both domestically and 
    overseas in anticipation of a zero hour.

Via the Moslem Brotherhoods superstructure of organizations, an aggressive campaign began to implement their power to establish a united Islamic nation within America in which all Islamic groups are more united in their goals and purpose. 

Below: Over 100 Moslem residents in America were indicted and convicted of terror acts by U.S. Courts ….think of the many more who in the act of planning.

Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Hosts Somalias Muslim Brotherhood President. Somalia's president has embraced the Muslim Brotherhood, a fact conveniently left out of ISNA's promotion of the event.

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) is showcasing on its website how its president, Imam Mohamed Magid, hosted Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at his mosque, the All Dulles Area Muslim Society. President Mohamud is linked to the Somali Muslim Brotherhood. ISNA says that the meeting included three Somali officials including Mohamud, three U.S. government officials and two other Muslim-American officials from the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA).

ICNA, like ISNA, is listed in a 1991 U.S. Muslim Brotherhood memo as "one of our organizations, and the organizations of our friends. The U.S. government also described ISNA as a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity when it designated it an un-indicted co-conspirator in a terrorism-financing trial in 2007. The FBI identified ISNA as a Brotherhood front in the mid-1980s. 

Somali President Mohamud is ... tied to the Somali wing of the Muslim Brotherhood called al-Islah. His campaign manager is a hardcore al-Islah member. He oversaw Kuwaiti funding to Mohamuds campaign and is singly responsible for handling the international linkage of Al-Islah to the world-wide movement of Muslim Brotherhood.

Obama Proposes Arming Muslim Brotherhood in Somalia

Obama decided this week that the Muslim Brotherhood-linked regime ruling parts of Somalia out of the capital city Mogadishu is eligible to receive U.S. military aid and weapons, sending a memo to Secretary of State John Kerry announcing the laying the ground work for even more foreign entanglements in Africa. The Obama administration formally recognized the Muslim Brotherhood-linked regime of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in January.

Moslem Brotherhood strategic goals

In July 2007, seven key leaders of an Islamic charity known as the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) went on trial for charges that they had: provided "material support and resources" to the foreign terrorist organization, namely:  Hamas.

During the HLF trial, many incriminating documents were entered into evidence. The most significant of these was An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goals for the Group in North America by the Moslem Brotherhood operative Mohamed Akram. Akrams Memo was found in the home of Ismael Elbarasse, a founder of the massive Dar al-Hijra mosque in Virginia. 

Elbarasse was a member of the Palestine Committee, which the Moslem Brotherhood had created to support Hamas. Akram's document listed the Brotherhoods 29 likeminded "organizations of our friends" that shared the common goal of dismantling American institutions and turning the U.S. into a Moslem nation. 

These "friends" were identified by Akram and the Brotherhood as groups that could help convince Moslems "that their work in America is a grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its ... so that ... God's religion [Islam] is made victorious over all other religions."

Akram was well aware that in the U.S., it would be extremely difficult to promote Islam by means of terror attacks. Thus the grand jihad that he and his Brotherhood comrades envisioned was not one involving bombings and shootings, but rather a stealth (or soft) jihad aiming to impose Islamic Law (sharia)  over every region of the earth by incremental means, such as working to expand the observant Moslem base, to unify and direct Moslems' efforts. 

Akram's document detailed a plan to conquer and Islamize the United States as a stepping stone toward the larger goal of one day creating the global Islamic state
so that the Moslem religion could be "enabled within the souls, minds and the lives of the people of the country. Akram explained that this could be accomplished through the establishment of firmly-rooted organizations. 

He urged Moslem leaders to seek to implant a host of seemingly benign Islamic groups with ostensibly unobjectionable motives; and once those groups had gained a measure of public acceptance, they would be in a position to more effectively promote societal transformation by the technique of boring from within.

Akram said The heart and the core of this strategy was contingent upon these groups' ability to develop a mastery of the art of 'coalitions.' The ultimate objective was not only an enlarged Moslem presence, but also implementation of the Brotherhood objectives of transforming pluralistic societies into Islamic states and sweeping away Western notions of legal equality, freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech.

Akram and the Brotherhood understood that they needed to appeal to different strata of the American population. They believed that some people could be influenced by messages delivered from a religious perspective, others would be more responsive to messages delivered by educators, or bankers, or political figures, or journalists, etc. Thus, Akram's blueprint for the advancement of the Islamic movement stressed the need to form a coalition of groups coming from the worlds of education; religious proselytization; political activism; audio and video production; print media; banking and finance; the physical sciences; the social sciences; professional and business networking; cultural affairs; the publishing and distribution of books.
By promoting the Islamic movement on such a wide variety of fronts, the Brotherhood and its allies could multiply their influence. Toward that end, the Brotherhood Explanatory Memorandum named 29 groups they would collaborate effectively to destroy America from within.

In his testimony before the US Senate in October 2003, Dr. Michael Waller told Senators, that The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) refers Moslem clerics to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. The Islamic Society of North America is an influential front for the promotion of the Wahhabi political, ideological and theological infrastructure in the United States." Claiming that ISNA has connections to 50 to 79 percent of mosques on the North American continent, he accused the organization of "dominating Islam in North America." (see: "The Holy Land Foundation and CAIR trial" in source list at bottom)

The Islamic concept of IMMIGRATION and the Moslem Brotherhood's Goals - Are Moslem Immigrants a threat to America? The answer is definitely YES. 

All Moslems learn the lesson on Hijra as children or when they first convert to Islam. The concept of Hijra, which means Immigration, is a well-developed doctrine in Islam. Immigration is used as a means of displacing the native population and attaining a position of power. Immigration according to Islam is an (sic) strategy of Islamic expansionism that engages religious and ethnic separatism in order to gain special status and privilege. Then comes undermining, suppression, and subjugating of non-Moslem communities in order to pave the way for total Islamization and the implementation of Islamic Law (sharia).

One of the most important instructions given to the Moslem community inside a non-Moslem country is that it must be separate and distinct.  Mohammad taught his followers basic rules for Moslems who immigrate to non-Moslem lands. Mohammad instructed that they must form a separate body; one that keeps their Islamic laws and to one day achieve the goal of making the host country comply with the Islamic Law. 

Mohammad forbade Moslems to immigrate to a non-Moslem country to pursue personal gain or pleasure. Mohammad told them that if they immigrated with the ultimate goal of spreading Islam and making it victorious, or at least include this goal as a part of the reason for their immigration, then, and only then, are they allowed pleasure and personal gain. Mohammad instructed that the Moslem immigrant should not integrate with the native society. But, the immigrant can fake a bit of integration to fool the native population. If the immigrants stay depends on showing some kind of integration to the non-Moslem society, then he is permitted to demonstrate a fake integration. This fake integration must only be in appearance and only until the goal of subjugation and the Islamization of the host society is achieved. 

Mohammads teachings was that there could be no separation of Church and State. Islam is both church and stateit is a complete way of life. The most important end result of Hijrah, or immigration, is the expansion of Islam. Moslem immigration to a non-Moslem land is considered to be a transitional period of preparation for transforming the native population from an open society into an Islamic society based on Islamic law and doctrine. (2)

The Moslem American Society (MAS) was founded in 1993 and describes itself as an Islamic revival and reform movement. It was created after a debate among Moslem Brotherhood members in the U.S. about whether to remain underground or to have a public face. Mohammad Mahdi Akef, an Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood Supreme Guide, and Ahmed el-Kadi, leader of the U.S. Moslem Brotherhood, came up with the solution, the founding of the Moslem American Society (MAS). The conclusion, The Moslem Brotherhood would remain secretive and MAS would be more public, but with a condition.

An off-shoot of the Moslem Brotherhood, MAS has instructed its members to evade questions about the group's ties to the Moslem Brotherhood, and to define jihad as a "divine legal right" of Moslems to be used for defense and the spread of Islam.  (3)

MAS decided to build an enormous mosque in Northern Virginia. Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center (Arabic for: Land of Migration) was built on grounds purchased by Saudi-backed NAIT. It is the area's largest and most influential mosque. It has been investigated many times for financing and providing aid and comfort to jihad organizations and it has been linked to numerous individuals linked to terrorism financing. The Treasury Departments Enforcement Communications System said the mosque is operating as a front for Hamas operatives in U.S. and is associated with Islamic extremists.” The current building, on a 3.4 acre plot, was finished for $5 million in 1991 ($8,657,464 today) with financial help from the Saudi Embassy's Islamic Affairs Department. (6) 

The Islamic Academy of Florida is owned by NAIT and founded by Sami al-Arian, described in a 2003 federal indictment as a base of operations and support for a terrorist cell of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The indictment said the Academy's offices were used to communicate with Islamic Jihad operatives. On March 2, 2006, Al-Arian entered a guilty plea to a charge of conspiracy to help the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a specially designated terrorist organization. 

In August 2004 Mohammad M. Hossain and Yassin M. Aref, two leaders of a mosque owned by NAIT in Albany, NY were arrested on charges that they took part in what they thought was a plot to import a shoulder-fired missile and assassinate a Pakistani diplomat in New York City.

NAIT, CAIR and ISNA were all named as co-conspirators in the 2007 Holy Land Foundation case for funding terrorist activities of Hamas and other Islamic terrorist organizations.

In his testimony before the US Senate in October 2003, Dr. Michael Waller told Senators, that The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) refers Moslem clerics to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. The Islamic Society of North America is an influential front for the promotion of the Wahhabi political, ideological and theological infrastructure in the United States." Claiming that ISNA has connections to 50 to 79 percent of mosques on the North American continent, he accused the organization of "dominating Islam in North America."


Over the last 40 years, small groups of devout Muslim men have gathered in homes in U.S  they addressed their ultimate goal, one so controversial that it is a key reason they have operated in secrecy: to create Muslim states overseas and, they hope, someday in America as well. These men are part of an underground U.S. chapter of the international Muslim Brotherhood, the world's most influential Islamic fundamentalist group and an organization with a violent past in the Middle East. But fearing persecution, they rarely identify themselves as Brotherhood members and have operated largely behind the scenes.

Leading the U.S. Brotherhood during much of this period was Ahmed Elkadi, an Egyptian-born surgeon and a former personal physician to Saudi Arabia's King Faisal. He headed the group from 1984 to 1994 Now he is discussing his life and the U.S. Brotherhood for the first time. His story, combined with details from documents and interviews, offers an unprecedented look at the Brotherhood in America: how the group recruited members, how it cloaked itself in secrecy

"They have this idea that Moslems come first, not that humans come first," says Mustafa Saied, 32, a Floridian who left the U.S. Brotherhood in 1998.

While separation of church and state is a bedrock principle of American democracy, the international Brotherhood preaches that religion and politics cannot be separated and that governments eventually should be Islamic

Documents obtained by the Tribune and translated from Arabic show that the U.S. Brotherhood has been careful to obscure its beliefs from outsiders. One document tells leaders to be cautious when screening potential recruits

Brotherhood members [say] that they want as many people as possible to convert to Islam so that one day--perhaps generations from now--a majority of Americans will support a society governed by Islamic law. 

Former MB leader Elkadi says the group has served Muslims in the United States well. He personally helped establish an Islamic community in the Florida Panhandle, with a mosque, school and health clinic. "They [MB] have succeeded in saving the younger generations from melting into the American lifestyle ... "

The Elkadis arrived in the United States in 1967, settling in the small Louisiana city of Monroe ... By then the Muslim Brotherhood already was operating in the United States, though secretly. A U.S. chapter of the Brotherhood, documents and interviews show, was formed in the early 1960s after hundreds of young Muslims came to the U.S. to study, particularly at large Midwestern universities, such as Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. Some belonged to the Brotherhood in their homelands and wanted to spread its ideology here  But to protect themselves and their relatives back home from possible persecution, they publicly called themselves the Cultural Society and not the Brotherhood.

Leaders would scout mosques, Islamic classes and Muslim organizations for those with orthodox religious beliefs consistent with Brotherhood views ... The leaders then would invite them to join a small prayer group The prayer groups were a defining feature of the Brotherhood and one created by al-Banna in Egypt Leaders were told that during prayer meetings they should focus on fundamentals, including "the primary goal of the Brotherhood: setting up the rule of God upon the Earth."

Mustafa Saied, [a] Floridian who left the Brotherhood six years ago, recalls how he was recruited in 1994 while a junior at the University of Tennessee. After Saied attended numerous prayer sessions, a fellow Muslim student took him to a quiet corner of a campus cafeteria and asked him to join. "It was a dream, because that's what you're conditioned to do--to really love the Ikhwan," Saied says, using the Arabic term for Brothers or Brotherhood  He says he found out that the U.S. Brotherhood had a plan for achieving Islamic rule in America: It would convert Americans to Islam and elect like-minded Muslims to political office "They're very smart. Everyone else is gullible," Saied says. 

While the U.S. Brotherhood was influential from its beginning--in 1963 it helped establish the Muslim Students Association, one of the first national Islamic groups in the U.S.--Elkadi thought the group could expand its reach. And when he was elected president in 1984, he vowed to do just that. Elkadi had a strategy to make America more Islamic that reflected a long-standing Brotherhood belief: First you change the person, then the family, then the community, then the nation.

By 1990, U.S. Brotherhood members had made headway on that plan by helping establish many mosques and Islamic organizations. Some of those efforts were backed financially by the ultraconservative Saudi Arabian government, which shared some of the Brotherhood's fundamentalist goals. Elkadi himself helped create several noted Islamic organizations, including the Muslim Youth of North America, which attempted to draw thousands of high school students to Islam by sponsoring soccer teams, providing scholarships and offering a line of clothing. He served as president of the North American Islamic Trust, a group that helped build and preserve mosques.

Groups that the Brotherhood helped form printed Islamic books, many of which were distributed at mosques and on college campuses. They included Sayyid Qutb's "In the Shade of the Koran" and "Milestones," which urge jihad, martyrdom and the creation of Islamic states. Scholars came to view his writings as manifestos for Islamic militants  These books helped to create a countercultural attitude in our community."

In recent years, the U.S. Brotherhood operated under the name Muslim American Society, according to documents and interviews. One of the nation's major Islamic groups, it was incorporated in Illinois in 1993 after a contentious debate among Brotherhood members. Former member Mustafa Saied recalls how he gathered with 40 others at a Days Inn on the Alabama-Tennessee border. Many members, he says, preferred secrecy When the leaders voted, it was decided that Brotherhood members would call themselves the Muslim American Society, or MAS They agreed not to refer to themselves as the Brotherhood but to be more publicly active MAS describes itself as a "charitable, religious, social, cultural and educational not-for-profit organization." It has headquarters in Alexandria, Va., and 53 chapters nationwide, including one in Bridgeview, across the street from the mosque there.

MAS says it has about 10,000 members and that any Muslim can join by paying $10 a month in dues. But to be an "active" member--the highest membership class--one must complete five years of Muslim community service and education, which includes studying writings by Brotherhood ideologues al-Banna and Qutb. MAS collected $2.8 million in dues and donations in 2003--more than 10 times the amount in 1997, according to Internal Revenue Service filings.

Spending often is aimed at schools, teachers and children, the filings show. The group has conducted teacher training programs, issued curriculum guides and established youth centers. It also set up Islamic American University, largely a correspondence school with an office in suburban Detroit, to train teachers and preachers. In the Chicago area, MAS has sponsored summer camps for teenagers. Shahzeen Karim, 19, says a camp in Bridgeview inspired her to resume covering her hair in the Islamic tradition. At a summer camp last year in Wisconsin run by the Chicago chapter of MAS, teens received a 2-inch-thick packet of material that included a discussion of the Brotherhood's philosophy and detailed instructions on how to win converts.

Part of the Chicago chapter's Web site is devoted to teens. It includes reading materials that say Muslims have a duty to help form Islamic governments worldwide and should be prepared to take up arms to do so. One passage states that "until the nations of the world have functionally Islamic governments, every individual who is careless or lazy in working for Islam is sinful." Another one says that Western secularism and materialism are evil and that Muslims should "pursue this evil force to its own lands" and "invade its Western heartland."

More evidence that the Moslem Brotherhood strategies have worked is that in June, 2014 a trial regarding a terrorist and terrorist organization was working in Florida for many years--in a university--the exact way MB likes to place its people.

The indictment of Sami al-Arian damning. It alleges that this former professor at the University of South Florida was the head of the American wing of the terrorist group Palestinian Islamic Jihad. He also held a key position in the groups worldwide leadership and even established a cell of the terrorist group at his university. He helped sponsor conferences [hosting] Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, a principal conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. He established a think tank called the World and Islam Studies Enterprises and hired Ramadan Abdullah Shallah to run it. Shallah went on to become the leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Al-Arian used his professorial status to bring other members of his terrorist group into this country "under the guise of academic conferences and meetings." He helped Palestinian Islamic Jihad members "receive cover as teachers or students" at USF. He also worked to strengthen Islamic Jihads ties with other terrorist groups principally Hamas and Hezbollah.

The indictment also makes clear that Al-Arian knew about and approved of the primary mission of Palestinian Islamic Jihad: bringing death and suffering to the perceived enemies of Islam. When two Islamic Jihad suicide bombers killed eighteen people in Israel in 1995, Al-Arian called them "two mujahidin martyred for the sake of God." Mujahidin are warriors of jihad.

  after years of hesitation by university officials, who had allowed themselves to be deterred from making the move earlier by liberals who raised the hoary bugaboos of discrimination and academic freedom. 

Al-Arian himself pushed all the right buttons: "Im a minority. Im an Arab, Im Palestinian. Im a Muslim. Do I have rights, or don't I have rights?" 

The Chronicle of Higher Education published a cover story called "Blaming the Victim?" and featuring a photo of Al-Arian. The irrepressible Congressman David Bonior (D-MI), who accepted at least $3,000 in contributions from Al-Arian and his wife, in January 2002 joined the crowd in opining that Al-Arian was a victim of anti-Arab bigotry.

Sami al-Arien (sic) a former professor at the University of South Florida, was North American head of Palestinian Islamic Jihad and very active in Islamic organizations named as co-conspirators in the largest Hamas funding trial in US history including the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) which al-Arien (sic) co-founded, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, the American Muslim Council, the American Muslim Alliance, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). In February 2003 a federal grand jury handed down a 50-count indictment against Al-Arian and six others in Tampa, Florida who were leaders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). Al-Arian had been investigated by the FBI since 1996. Al-Arian founded and headed various terrorist fronts that operated as the American arm of Islamic Jihad.


The Islamic Academy of Florida, recently described in a federal indictment as a base of operations for a local terrorist cell, is in Hillsborough County. Four of the 10 people who sit on the Islamic Academy's board of trustees are from Hernando. The school is owned by the North American Islamic Trust, NAIT, the same Saudi-backed organization that owns Hernando County's lone mosque.

in the federal indictment, the Islamic Academy earned seven mentions in relation to Al-Arian and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an organization the U.S. government says is committed to the use of violence to thwart the Middle East peace process.

The indictment alleges that the Islamic Academy was, effectively, a base of support for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a group said to be responsible for the murders of more than 100 people in Israel and its occupied territories.

The school's Web site says there are 313 students enrolled at the Islamic Academy this year... The holders of the title to the school property, the North American Islamic Trust, NAIT, also holds title to the mosque at 130th Ave. E in Temple Terrace and the Hernando mosque at 6307 Barclay Avenue in Spring Hill. The trust owns about 27 percent of the 1,200 mosques in the United States. (see reference #5 or bibliography: King (2003) Local ties [Florida] to Islamic school are intricate).
