Ray DiLorenzo posted an insightful opinion that is closer to truth at the Canada Free Press today entitled, “Opposition Politics or Having Nothing In Common: It is now clear we no longer have anything in common. It has poisoned opposition politics and now the country”. I first read the post thanks to Donald Moore via the email Social Platform WorldNewsChat@groups.io.
Then I read Carla’s response on the same platform:
“This article is right on and the left is not going to budge! A Civil War is coming and I believe we haven't seen the worst of what is happening and going to happen. Trump can't do it by himself. I added responding to Carla:
“I agree. A civil is coming to decide America's future: A transformed (socially & politically) collective republic OR the MAGA supported Founders' Republic. Whoever wins will undoubtedly suspend (or trash) the Constitution to purge the losers from government. If MAGA wins it will probably be a more extreme version of post-civil war Reconstruction. If Dem-Marxists win, wait for reeducation camps, concentration camps and mass executions.”

The 1850s were much like our country today. Democrats and Republicans were bitterly divided. On May 22, 1856, Congressman Preston Brooks (D-SC) entered the Senate Chamber, walked over to Senator Charles Sumner (R-MA), and repeatedly beat the senator over the head with his cane until he was rendered unconscious. The congressman was offended by the senator's objection to slavery.
We no longer have anything in common--the Left wants a communist state
The issues have taken a turn but not the melodrama. At that time, the primary issues were slavery and states' rights. Today, the issues are much more basic. Radical leftists have taken over the Democrat Party, abandoning the nation our founders built. They want a country without Judeo-Christian ethics, without rich and poor, and without classes of any sort. They want total economic equality, collectivism, redistribution, social and economic justice (?), the end to legal structures like property rights, and a country without borders. They want a robust skepticism toward courts and police departments. They want a sort of no-fault criminal system.
When I say collectivism, I mean rights are no longer granted to the individual but to the collective...the common good, whatever that means.
They want a communist state. They will be deceived; their plan will not eliminate the elites they hate so much. It will expand the elites to include the Left's leadership. Their plans are identical to those of every communist state that has ever existed. They believe they can achieve their goals more effectively, despite contradicting the fundamental aspects of human nature, which include ambition and the desire to improve oneself.
We no longer have anything in common.
Our Constitution cannot work under those circumstances. John Adams said it well: "The Constitution was made for a religious and moral people. It is totally inadequate for the government of any other." It is no wonder today's Democrats want a constitution rewrite. Religion and morality will have no place in their vision of a 'new' America. If they do have a morality, it will be a construct of their own godless wisdom. God help them.
Our politics are filled with hypocrisy, corruption, neglect, fraud, and whining
They want something that cannot exist successfully in any ethical society. For instance, they demand the finest free healthcare but offer no reward for providing it.
Opposition politics was designed to encourage accountability, promote diverse opinions, improve policies, and facilitate compromise. But what has happened is now we have the proverbial throwing the baby out with the bathwater. But now it's the country that is getting thrown out.
Our politics has become as mean as a junkyard dog, resembling a merciless game. It is filled with hypocrisy, corruption, neglect, fraud, and whining. Five years ago, Democrats bitterly complained that Maduro was enslaving his people. Now they complain that Trump did something about it. Senators record a video warning the military about Trump's illegal orders when there were none to be found. Obama issued several highly questionable orders with no objection from the Left. To the Democrat Party, President Trump cannot do anything right. It's a no-win on every side. Symbolism over substance.
It’s opposition politics at its worst.
No one who is lucid can say the Dems fought tirelessly for a better country during the Biden years. Heck, lunchtime was the end of Biden's workday. Biden's term marked the rush to change America. Morality was cast aside, there was no justice for victims of crime, stores were openly looted, they memorialized criminals, and the law was nowhere to be found except to punish Trump. Our borders were completely opened to every alien, criminal, miscreant, mental patient, or foreign enemy. Thousands of migrants and Americans have died as a result.
The opposition's message is plain...they hate our country
The Left will never understand that Western civilization depends on a strong America. Maybe they do understand and are acting accordingly.
What MAGA wants is simple. They want a strong America, a strong Europe based on Western Ideals, economic opportunity and protectionism, strict immigration enforcement, and a return to traditional values. Quite a difference to what the Left demands.
And that's where we are politically and socially...in a long-distance relationship, going nowhere but to a place many will come to regret.
I never thought I would say this, but we are in urgent need of more legislators like John Fetterman... and I am totally indifferent if he appears on the Senate floor in a bathing suit.
This senator from Pennsylvania is a treasure. He doesn't follow the crowd. Party politics has no hold on him. Regardless of party affiliation, he consistently votes based on his judgment. He embodies the saying, "You can't judge a book by its cover."
It wasn't always like this. Legislators used to get along for the most part and even socialized. Despite having opposing views, President Reagan and Tip O'Neill (D-MA) maintained a close friendship and mutual respect.
The opposition's message is plain...they hate our country, and we are expected to quietly watch as they attempt to dismantle this great nation from both inside and outside the halls of government.
We will not compromise on whether we remain a free constitutional republic or go communist. So, someone is going to have to blink, and the Dems better start blinking.
It's time we looked at the Democrat Party, not as a political entity, but as a domestic terrorist organization
Where legislators and the opposition in the 1850s found themselves willing to employ corporal and capital violence, it resulted in civil war. We have entered an era much the same. The Democrats' actions have resulted in three attempts on Trump's life, the murder of Charlie Kirk, the attempted murder of ICE and border agents, arson attacks on ICE offices, threats against agents and their families, and the literal burning down of cities. These events are all a direct result of inflamed passions created by a political opposition that is lost in the dark.
It is because they no longer believe in the country or the people they represent. They have declared war on the United States! Their leaders are like the serpent whispering sedition to ignorant people. They want to be little islands of communism within the country, expecting the rest of the country to pay for it. It's time we looked at the Democrat Party, not as a political entity, but as a domestic terrorist organization. [Blog Editor Bold Text Emphasis]
To make things worse, Gov. Walz has called up the National Guard. Is Walz expecting his Guard to fight federal agents or control rioters in Minneapolis? We have reports that demonstrators are showing up in camo clothing and bullet proof vests. Is this the beginning of the civil war they want?
It is now clear we no longer have anything in common. It has poisoned opposition politics and now the country.
It has been said, "Only a madman will burn down his own country to rule over the ashes." The Democrats have the torch and have demonstrated their willingness to use it. Either they put it out or give it their best shot. But they need to be prepared to accept the consequences.
