Youcef – Iran & Rimsha – Pakistan both are Released from Jail

Released Nadarkhani Greets Family 9-9-12
John R. Houk
© September 10, 2012

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani of Iran and an eleven year old Christian girl from Pakistan have been released from their respective jails. Both were jailed under Islamic Blasphemy laws.

As you will read from The New American, Youcef was originally jailed under the charge of converting to Christianity away from Islam. The Iranian Mullocracy came under international scrutiny for their plan to execute Pastor Youcef just for being a Christian. In order to propagandize the Iranian populace about Youcef’s incarceration Iran began creating new charges that made him look more criminal undoubtedly to sear the consciences of Muslim Iranians if Youcef was executed. Rimsha Salih Green Scarf as Released 9-9-12

Eleven year old Rimsha has been released from jail in Pakistan undoubtedly because of the international publicity that she was framed by a Radical Muslim Cleric who planted burnt pages of the Quran in police evidence in order to bolster his accusation that Rimsha desecrated the Quran. It is still a mystery to me what the ultimate goal of the Cleric behind the Blasphemy accusation; however in Pakistan Muslims have been drumming up Blasphemy Charges against the Pakistan Christian minority for some time for vendettas and legal manipulation to acquire Christian property.

AND so I say this: Thank God Jesus Christ is on the throne of God listening to the prayers of Christian Believers. Prayer is the ultimate reason for the release of Youcef and Rimsha. I don’t know what the future plans of the families of Youcef and Rimsha are but I pray seeking asylum in a more favorable environment is in their thinking. Youcef and Rimsha are out of jail but they are still in their Islamic Supremacist nation’s of birth. God have mercy on their lives and their family’s lives.

Blasphemy Laws in Muslim nations are based on Islam’s Sharia Law. Apart from the religious significance of Sharia, the inseparable political part is entirely antithetical to American Liberty based on the U.S. Constitution. Frankly the political nature of Sharia would or should be ruled unconstitutional if it is ever to be allowed legal weight in the USA.  The death sentences handed out in the Muslim world for something as simple as insulting a religion are ludicrous in America. Imagine that Rimsha Salih was jailed for the accusation of having Quranic pages on her person that appeared to have been burnt.

I am mystified when Leftists line up behind Muslim Apologists in America to fight the national State wide movement to enforce American Laws for American Courts (ALAC). Muslim Apologists scream violation of the First Amendment establishing religious freedom. Those Muslim Apologists would be correct if the issue was about regulating the practice of Islam; HOWEVER the purpose for ALAC laws is to make sure that foreign law precedents cannot be used as case law in America which would include the political aspects of Sharia Law.

Thus, in America, no person can be executed for Free Speech that is critical of Islam. Trust me when an American Evangelist is preaching to Americans that do not follow a Christian lifestyle and that American is a Muslim that Muslim’s sense of Islamic Superiority will rise up in rage. Why? Because to tell a Muslim that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and faith in the Resurrection power of Jesus is the only way to Salvation, that Muslim will view that message as an insult to their Prophet Mohammed and to their Islamic religion. In Sharia such an insult is blasphemy that must be taken care of politically. AND “taken care of” means utilizing the punishment prescribed by Sharia Law, which is death.

Leftists are so blinded by their concept of Multiculturalism that they don’t realize the religious disregard Leftists have for any religion will be perceived as an insult to Islam according to Sharia Law. Leftists need to shine a light through the fog of Multiculturalism to support ALAC laws to protect their own First Amendment Civil Rights.

Iranian and Pakistani Christians Freed From Imprisonment

10 September 2012 11:22

In both Iran and Pakistan, important victories have been won in the conflict between Christian faith and Islamic persecution. In Iran, after three years in prison awaiting execution for the “crime” of converting to Christianity, Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani has been freed. In Pakistan, a young girl wrongly accused of burning pages of the Koran has been released from prison and the Muslim cleric who planted false evidence has been arrested.

According to a report from FoxNews.com, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) — a watchdog group which has long championed Nadarkhani’s cause — announced over the weekend that Nadarkani has been released from his imprisonment after his charges were “lowered to evangelizing to Muslims, which carried a three-year sentence.” Since the 32-year-old Nadarkhani had already spent three years of his life in prison awaiting execution, he was released for “time served.”

Nadakhani (sic) was charged with “apostasy” — leaving the Islamic religion — on the basis of his conversion to Christianity. But the primary reason he became the victim of the animosity of the Islamic Republic of Iran was his service as the pastor of a 400-member house church movement: He was arrested in 2009 when he was trying to officially register the church with the government. After his arrest, Nadarkhani was taken before a judge and commanded to either renounce Christianity or face the death penalty. When he did not submit, he was sentenced to death in 2010.

When Iran faced international outrage over its intention to execute a Christian for his faith, the regime sought to sow confusion regarding the case. As reported previously for The New American, Pastor Nadarkhani not only faced a sentence of death for his beliefs, but the Iranian regime spread false accusations of rape and “Zionism” against him in an attempt to distract the Western media from the real reason for his plight. In some circles, those efforts almost worked:

For example, an article for the International Business Times reported both the false accusations against Nadarkhani, and the government’s denial of its intention to execute him.…

The author of International Business Times then declared that “If Nadarkhani were indeed guilty of rape and of Zionism, which could be the treasonous crime of spying for Israel, the death penalty would not be off the table. Both convictions are subject to capital punishment in Iran, and the death penalty is mandatory in rape cases unless the victim forgives the rapist.”

However, given the sudden appearance of these charges against Nadarkhani, long after he had, in fact, actually been convicted for apostasy — and not rape or espionage — treating the Iranian regime’s charges as anything other than a smokescreen does a disservice to the persecuted pastor.

When Nadarkhani was once again brought before a judge on September 8, supporters of the imprisoned pastor worried that the regime was preparing new false charges. As reported by FoxNews:

Nadarkhani was originally called to Saturday's [September 8] hearing to answer to "charges brought against him," leading to speculation that the new charges from the Iranian Supreme Court could be for a security-based crime, a charge often handed down to cover-up prisoners being held and sentenced on faith-based charges.

"While we praise the release of Pastor Youcef, we must recognize that Iran felt obligated to save face among its people and continue its pattern of suppressing religious freedom with intimidation tactics," Tiffany Barrans, a legal director for ACLJ said to FoxNews.com.

"International attention to this matter saved this man's life, but we must not forget the human right of freedom of religion includes the right to freedom of expression."

And, in a country given to "public protests" which serve the agenda of the government, it is by no means certain that Nadarkhani has escaped the wrath of the Islamic Republic.

In the case of the girl who faced false accusations in another nation known for being a paragon of Islamic "justice" — Pakistan — her three-week imprisonment has now ended with a helicopter flight away from the prison in which she was being held: Even after it had been proven that the charges against her were false, the authorities apparently determined they could not protect her from Muslim militants unless she was spirited away from her jail cell. Her identity has thus far been concealed, on account of her age, but her youth was no protection from facing the false accusation that she had burned pages of the Koran — and facing imminent death on the basis of that accusation. According to the Associated Press, her release signals that she is one step closer to being completely cleared of the false accusation:

The release a day after a judge granted her bail is another step closer to ending an episode that has focused an uncomfortable spotlight on Pakistan's harsh blasphemy laws, which can result in life in prison or even death for defendants. Many critics say the laws are misused to wage vendettas or target Pakistan's vulnerable minorities like the Christians. …

Her lawyers say they will now push to have the case against her thrown out entirely.

"Her parents were with her when she was freed from the jail, and she has been taken to a safer place," said a member of her legal team, Tahir Naveed Chaudhry.

The girl's release came a day after a judge in Islamabad granted bail to the mentally challenged girl, a move hailed by the human right activists and representatives of Pakistan's minority Christian community. Bail is rarely granted in blasphemy cases, and the decision signals a degree of sympathy that could result in all the charges being dropped.

Now, the cleric who planted evidence implicating the girl has been exposed by a member of his mosque; if that individual had kept silent — or joined the hundreds of Muslims who had surrounded her home, demanding "justice" — she might very well have faced ongoing prosecution for the false charge against her.

The absurdity of the entire case highlights the inherent injustice of trying non-Muslims on the basis of Islamic sharia law. The notion that an adult could be prosecuted — even judicially murdered — by an Islamic regime for "blasphemy" is absurd. That a mentally impaired teenage girl faced such a threat on the basis of a false accusation is appalling. When the charge was initially made, the child’s home was surrounded by hundreds of angry Muslims; in such an environment of hostility, intimidation, and violence, the contrast of creeds could not be greater.

Brazilian Senator Takes Action for Pastor Youcef’s Attorney

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani preaching
It is fantastic that nations that have international leverage are taking an interest in plight of Pastor Youcef and now Youcef's attorney imprisoned for representing the Pastor. Brazil is part of a group of nations that have unofficially been known as the BRIC nations (Brazil, Russia, India and China). The BRIC nations have no official treaty identifying themselves as such. The “BRIC” appellation is a label assigned by those involved with geopolitics to identify these four nations as up and coming powerhouses because of their natural resources and/or current strong economies – militaries.

The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) has been highly involved in finding arenas to bring pressure on Iran to release Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani. Below is how those actions in part are proceeding.

Brazilian Senator Takes Action for Pastor Youcef’s Attorney

Jun. 7, 2012 2:01 PM

Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani’s Iranian attorney continues to face an impending prison sentence in Iran. However, there are new international efforts to aid the Iranian human rights attorney and his persecuted client.

Mahammad Ali Dadkhah has been valiantly fighting for Pastor Youcef’s release through Iran’s judicial system. He was convicted for representing the persecuted in Iran and faces a lengthy prison sentence and disbarment from practicing law that would render Pastor Youcef without adequate legal representation.

This week, the ACLJ’s new Director of Operations in Brazil, Filipe Coelho, met with Brazilian Senator Magno Malta and others to urge diplomatic efforts on Dadkhah’s behalf.

[I] met with Senator Magno Malta and Pr Everaldo Pereira, President of the PSC to address issues such as Religious Freedom and the case of Iranian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani who is trapped in Iran, convicted and sentenced to death [because of his Christian faith]. He introduced the case of Mohammad Ali Dadkhah to Senator Malta who has been in touch with the Ambassador of Iran about Nadarkhani's situation. Senator Malta said he was not aware of Dadkhah and he immediately asked his office to call the Embassy of Iran and set up a meeting for Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Senator Malta has been a significant influence in the Brazilian government, urging action on Pastor Youcef’s behalf. Jordan Sekulow, ACLJ Executive Director, met with Senator Malta earlier this year and provided him with Pastor Youcef’s verdict, translated into Portuguese.

Senator Malta has already taken action on Pastor Youcef’s behalf, meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Brazil. We are hopeful that next week’s meeting with Iran’s Ambassador will be beneficial for both Pastor Youcef and his brave attorney.

Nadarkhani and Dadkhah Persecuted in Iran

iran-christian-persecution

To the natural eyes Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani of Iran is beginning to sink deeper and deeper into the mire of darkness which the justice system of theocratic Shia-Islamic Iran. The Iran regime has arrested Nadarkhani’s lawyer Mohammad Ali Dadkhah on trumped up charges. And of course Pastor Youcef has had a death sentence hanging over his head for years for the very Islamic crime of converting to Christianity. The conversion meme of Iranian justice has been denied by Pastor Youcef claiming he has been a Christian since childhood. But it gets worse for Pastor Youcef.

Now the Iranian regime is financing movie Director Nader Talebzadh to make a documentary about Pastor Youcef. If Iran is financing the film project you have to know it will be a propaganda campaign to get any doubting Iranian citizens on board with Pastor Youcef’s execution which I understand can be ordered by whim without notification by the Iranian government.

Below is the scoop from two articles from the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ).

Iran Demands Youcef’s Lawyer “Confess on TV”

Mohammad Ali Dadkhah

May 14, 2012 3:40 PM

Iran continues to pressure Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani’s attorney, Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, to confess to crimes he did not commit.

A new report indicates that Dadkhah, who has been disbarred and sentenced to 9 years in prison for representing people like pastor Youcef, has been extensively interrogated and pressured to “confess on TV or go to prison.”

“Tomorrow is my last day to either make television confessions or go to prison. I will go to prison, and I will not [be forced to] leave my homeland.” . . .

“They told me that if I didn’t confess, they would enforce my sentence. They talked to me for long periods of time and I did not accept it. I will say now that if one day I say things, they are not credible and I must have been under conditions where I was forced to say those things. I hope God maintains my power.”

“Under intense pressure, they asked me to say before television cameras that the Defenders of Human Rights Center (DHRC) received funds from foreigners, meaning that we were operators for foreigners, which is not true.” . . .

“We were a number of lawyers who for our love for our land, our capabilities, and our professional knowledge started the Center and we worked there. Among Iranian lawyers, perhaps a group like ours is rare, a group that has knowledge, capability, and awareness about their work and is so affectionate towards our homeland.”

Dadkhah, a world-renowned Muslim human rights attorney in Iran, founded the DHRC along with Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi and others to defend human rights in Iran.

Dadkhah reportedly stated that he has been ordered to “to go talk on television and say that he received money from abroad,” which is a criminal offence in Iran. Dadkhah maintains that he has never accepted foreign money or awards “accompanied with money.” He also stated, “I never received any money from my clients whom I defended for their human rights and I consider this my honor.”

The report also states that Dadkhah said, “Those who have violated my human rights should answer” for what happens to his clients, like Pastor Youcef, if his prison sentence is enforced.

It was just last week that Pastor Youcef released his first public statement since his execution order was upheld in a letter written to his supporters.

We are continuing to monitor this situation and urge Iran to both release Pastor Youcef and allow Dadkhah continue defending the human rights of those persecuted in Iran.

Pastor Youcef the Movie: Fact or Fiction

Youcef Nadarkhani

May 16, 2012 2:55 PM

As international pressure increases, the Iranian regime is now taking new measures to delegitimize Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani. Iranian film director Nader Talebzadh is making a "documentary" about Pastor Youcef. One would hope that such a documentary would expose the truth about the persecution of Pastor Youcef.

However, Mr. Talebzadh has said he will work directly with the Iranian judiciary in producing the film. In announcing that he is in the beginning stages of the documentary, Mr. Talebzadh proclaimed that Pastor Youcef is a criminal and that his death sentence for apostasy is a lie propagated by western media. Clearly, Mr. Talebzadh has not reviewed the court’s verdict, which can be found here (and has been translated into English, Portuguese, and Russian), because it clearly stated that Pastor Youcef's death sentence is solely for the charge of apostasy.

Producing a film with any legitimacy will be difficult for Mr. Talebzadh. To begin with, the Iranian regime has made so many inconsistent public statements about Pastor Youcef, it will be impossible to tell his story without contradicting the Iranian regime’s various accounts.

So which false story line will Mr. Talebzadh pursue? Will it be that Pastor Youcef is a rapist, which would require Mr. Talebzadh produce two witnesses; or that he is an extortionist; or perhaps the false accusation that he ran a brothel? Of course there is always the standard Iranian fallback that Pastor Youcef is a Zionist or national security threat, both of which might include scintillating action scenes for the viewers.
Mr. Talebzadh also proclaimed that Pastor Youcef is not a Christian pastor; but of course, if this is true, then the regime lied before the United Nations Human Rights Council last March when the Head of Iran’s Human Rights Council, Mohammad Javad Larijani, stated three new charges against against Pastor Youcef. Each of the new charges concerned his preaching Christianity or building a church in his home.
One thing is for certain, Mr. Talebzadh, a man “known to make the films the Regime orders him to make,” will use his documentary as a smear campaign for the regime. In light of these new attempts to disgrace Pastor Youcef’s reputation, we must remain vigilant in our pursuit of his freedom. Please do your part: continue to pray, join our Tweet for Youcef campaign, and spread the word to your friends and family.

Imprisoned pastor speaks out

Youcef Nadarkhani and his son
I received an email update about Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani jailed in Iran under a death sentence for being a Christian. I wish I could get these kinds of updates pertaining to another Christian I am following that is jailed in Pakistan also for his faith and like Nadarkhani for blaspheming Islam – Hector Aleem. The sad thing about Hector is a Pakistani Court cleared him of the blasphemy charge; however there is enough Islamic hatred for Christians that charges and delays keep popping up keeping Hector in jail.

Pastor Youcef’s update pertains to an open letter he has been able to get out to those who are tracking his predicament. Below is the email from Jordan Sekulow of the ACLJ which will be followed by the English translation of the Farsi letter by Youcef Nadarkhani.

Sent by ACLJ

Pastor Youcef has released a letter to his supporters.

It is the first time he has been allowed to make a public statement in nearly a year and the first time the world has heard from him since his execution order was upheld.

Youcef's spirit in the face of his persecution is remarkable. He writes, "[T]hough my trial due has been so long, and as in the flesh I wish these days to end, yet I have surrendered myself to God's will."

The letter, which he sent to Present Truth Ministries, goes on to thank everyone who has been working, speaking out and praying on his behalf, saying:

"I do believe that these kind of activities can be very helpful in order to reach freedom, and respecting the human rights in a right way can bring forth great results in this. I want to appreciate all those are trying to reach to this goal."

His words are inspiring, and you can read his entire letter on our Tweet for Youcef page at http://ACLJ.org/Nadarkhani.

Please share this inspiring news by forwarding this email and sharing our link on Facebook and Twitter. It's important that you encourage your friends and family to sign up to our Tweet for Youcef campaign today.

We are also continuing to press the U.S. Senate to unanimously pass a resolution demanding Pastor Youcef's release. The U.S. House of Representatives has already passed a similar resolution, and it's time for the Senate to act. Take action; sign our new petition for Youcef today.

Thank you again for your actions, prayers, and tweets on behalf of Pastor Youcef.

Letter from Pastor Youcef Thanks Supporters and Urges Prayer

Letter dated: 5/7/12

Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani has written an open letter to “all those who are concerned” with his plight thanking them and asking for prayer. The letter written earlier this week is the first time in nearly a year that Pastor Youcef has been able to speak out publicly about his illegal imprisonment in Iran.

He encourages the members of his congregation and supporters all over the world that he is in “perfect health” and urges them to continue having faith in God. He specifically thanks everyone who has “asked for my release, or campaigns and human rights activities which are going on against the charges which are applied to me,” and he urges everyone to “pray for me.”

Below is the entire letter from Pastor Youcef obtained and translated into English by Jason DeMars of Present Truth Ministries, who the ACLJ has been working with on Pastor Youcef’s case from the beginning.

May 7, 2012

Greetings from your servant and younger brother in Christ, Youcef Nadarkhani.

To: All those who are concerned and worried about my current situation.

First, I would like to inform all of my beloved brothers and sisters that I am in perfect health in the flesh and spirit. And I try to have a little different approach from others to these days, and consider it as the day of exam and trial of my faith. And in these days which are hard in order to prove your loyalty and sincerity to God, I am trying to do the best in my power to stay right with what I have learned from God's commandments.

I need to remind my beloveds, though my trial due has been so long, and as in the flesh I wish these days to end, yet I have surrendered myself to God's will.

I am neither a political person nor do I know about political complicity, but I know that while there are many things in common between different cultures, there are also differences between these cultures around the world which can result in criticism, which most of the times response to this criticisms will be harsh and as a result will lengthen our problems.

From time to time I am informed about the news which is spreading in the media about my current situation, for instance being supported by various churches and famous politicians who have asked for my release, or campaigns and human rights activities which are going on against the charges which are applied to me. I do believe that these kind of activities can be very helpful in order to reach freedom, and respecting the human rights in a right way can bring forth great results in this.

I want to appreciate all those are trying to reach to this goal. But at the other hand, I'd like to announce my disgust at insulting words or activities which make stress and trouble, which unfortunately are done with the justification (excuse) of defending human rights and freedom, for the final result is so clear and obvious for me. Insulting the belief of other nations or people, whether they be a majority or minority, is not accepted and is an unworthy deed, specifically for those who have this teaching to love and respect others more than themselves and treat them the same as you want to be treated.

Then, burning and insulting is not a reverent behavior for a Christian, but it's worthy to be in obedience to the word of God and humble ourselves to glorify God.

I try to be humble and obedient to those who are in power, obedience to those in authority which God has granted to the officials of my country, and pray for them to rule the country according to the will of God and be successful in doing this. For I know this in this way I have obeyed God's word. I try to obey along with those whom I see in a common situation with me. They never had any complaint, but just let the power of God be manifested in their lives, and though sometimes we read that they have used this right to defend themselves, for they had this right, I am not an exception as well and have used all possibilities and so forth and am waiting for the final result.

So I ask all the beloved ones to pray for me as the holy word has said. At the end I hope this be prepared as soon as possible, as the authorities of my country will do with free will according to their law and commandments which are answerable to.

May God's Grace and Mercy be upon you now and forever. Amen.

Youcef Nadarkhani

The original letter in Farsi is posted here.

It is very encouraging that Pastor Youcef is not only able to communicate with the outside world, but that he is aware of the international outcry on his behalf. News of his story is reaching all the way around the world back into the heart of Iran.

It is critical that we keep this intense pressure on Iran for his release. Please continue to pray, Tweet for Youcef, and urge the U.S. Senate to quickly and unanimously pass a resolution demanding his release.
