Obama Sells Out Israel – No Surprise

UN Security Draft Resolution Condemning Israel over Jewish Settlements in eastern Jerusalem and Judea-Samaria - click to enlarge

President Barack Hussein Obama has betrayed Israel by allowing the UN Security Council to create a binding international resolution that steals the eastern half of Jerusalem as well as Judea and Samaria (renamed the West Bank by a conquering Jordan in 1950) to create a national state for a group of Arabs that NEVER had an individual nation or a heritage to Judea and Samaria. Indeed, the name these Arabs are appropriating had a closer historical connection to Jews than it ever did to Muslim Arabs – Palestine.

The very name “Palestine” was coined by Romans weary of Jewish rebellions against Roman conquest. The English version of the word Palestine comes from the ancient enemies of Israel – the Philistines.

After the Romans expelled or killed most of the Jews from their national homeland the Romans decided to call the area Palastina after the Jewish ancient enemies as part of a de-Judification plan to end Jewish rebellions. Here is a decent run-down of the word “Palestine”:

What Does "Palestine" Mean?

It has never been the name of a nation or state. It is a geographical term, used to designate the region at those times in history when there is no nation or state there.

The word itself derives from "Peleshet", a name that appears frequently in the Bible and has come into English as "Philistine". The name began to be used in the Thirteenth Century BCE, for a wave of migrant "Sea Peoples" who came from the area of the Aegean Sea and the Greek Islands and settled on the southern coast of the land of Canaan. There they established five independent city-states (including Gaza) on a narrow strip of land known as Philistia. The Greeks and Romans called it "Palastina".

The Philistines were not Arabs, they were not Semites. They had no connection, ethnic, linguistic or historical with Arabia or Arabs. The name "Falastin" that Arabs today use for "Palestine" is not an Arabic name. It is the Arab pronunciation of the Greco-Roman "Palastina" derived from the Peleshet.

How Did the Land of Israel Become "Palestine"?

In the First Century CE, the Romans crushed the independent kingdom of Judea. After the failed rebellion of Bar Kokhba in the Second Century CE, the Roman Emperor Hadrian determined to wipe out the identity of Israel-Judah-Judea. Therefore, he took the name Palastina and imposed it on all the Land of Israel. At the same time, he changed the name of Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina.

The Romans killed many Jews and sold many more in slavery. Some of those who survived still alive and free left the devastated country, but there was never a complete abandonment of the Land. There was never a time when there were not Jews and Jewish communities, though the size and conditions of those communities fluctuated greatly. (The History and Meaning of "Palestine" and "Palestinians"; Derived from Tzemach Institute for Biblical Studies; Indaweb.com)

Yup Pilgrim, NO Palestinian Muslims of nationality or heritage. AND YET American Leftists and EU Multiculturalists are intent on stealing from Jewish Israel and give to interloper Arab Muslims who stole the name Palestine and Palestinian:

Under the Ottoman Empire (1517-1917), the term Palestine was used as a general term to describe the land south of Syria; it was not an official designation. In fact, many Ottomans and Arabs who lived in Palestine during this time period referred to the area as "Southern Syria" and not as "Palestine."
After World War I, the name "Palestine" was applied to the territory that was placed under British Mandate; this area included not only present-day Israel but also present-day Jordan.

Leading up to Israel's independence in 1948, it was common for the international press to label Jews, not Arabs, living in the mandate as Palestinians. It was not until years after Israeli independence that the Arabs living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip were called Palestinians.

The word Palestine or Filastin does not appear in the Koran. The term peleshet appears in the Jewish Tanakh [Blog Editor: Christians call the Tanakh the Old Testament] no fewer than 250 times. (Israel: Origins of the Name "Palestine"; Jewish Virtual Library)

After reading this information it should boggle an honest person’s mind as it does mine, that the Obama Left and Europeans under the auspices of the EU would rob land from Israel!

Most Americans are still very supportive of Israel and its existence. The American Left that believes in the existence of Israel yet supports Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) against Israel because of the idiotic belief the Jewish State is occupying Palestinian land are unwittingly supporting the Muslim-hatred to kill all Jews. Pay attention Left Wing Jews in America that support BDS.

Ergo we Americans that believe in protecting Israel’s heritage need to shout loudly from the rooftops about the Lame Duck Obama move to screw Israel by abstaining from the UN Security Council resolution that robs land from the Jews. Whoever wrote the New York Sun editorial suggesting that Congress divest American support to the United Nations is brilliant!

A Problem From Hell, Indeed

Editors
December 23, 2016

The best way for President-elect Trump to view the Obama administration’s betrayal of Israel in the United Nations is as the starting bell for a campaign to defund the world body. This is already being signaled by Senator Lindsey Graham, who chairs the Appropriations Subcommittee on the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs. That gives him direct oversight of our U.N. budget. It puts him in perfect position to ally with Mr. Trump in charting a course away from a United Nations that has jumped its traces.

The resolution just passed by the Security Council, though ostensibly even handed, crosses a line that the Council has heretofore, and for good reason, shrunk from crossing. It seeks to expose Israel to legal action from an international boycott movement. President Obama, all too typically, seeks to blame Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has had the temerity to assert the right of Jews to settle in the biblical homelands of Judea and Samaria. The right policy would be to support such settlements, which are intrinsic to the Zionist ideal.

Instead, Mr. Obama has given us a study in perfidy. He had Secretary Kerry and Ambassador Power stand silent while the plot was being hatched. He allied with far-left factions on a policy that emboldened Israel’s foes to advance a measure could make Judea and Samaria Judenrein. Even Egypt, once it understood President-elect Trump’s position, was loath to present the measure to the Security Council. Ambassador Power claimed to be acting in the spirit of President Reagan, who never in a million years would have let such a resolution pass.

U.S. State Department via Wikipedia

HELL HATH NO FURY: Hell hath no fury like Congress scorned seems to be the message from Senator Lindsey Graham in face of the prospect of the Obama administration betraying Israel in the Security Council. The vote today underlines the fact that the UN itself has become a problem from hell, to use the phrase Ambassador Power made famous in another context. The ambassador abstained today from a resolution aimed at the delegitimization of the Jewish state.

It’s not just Reagan who is being mocked. Ambassador Power sought to cloak her abstention in the mantle of Presidents George H.W. Bush, Clinton, and George W. Bush, though no such resolution passed — or even was permitted to come to a vote — during their presidencies. All of them would have vetoed such a resolution. The ambassador’s claims are part of the sneakiness, the dissembling with which she has conducted her diplomacy. She owed no special loyalty to the Jewish community, but made, nonetheless, promises that she has now broken.

The United Nations proceeded against a clear signal from the incoming administration and the Congress. The Security Council knows that the measure is a major departure from anything it has done before; it is worse than the measure the Obama administration vetoed in 2011. It will trigger within the United Nations court systems legal warfare that will bedevil Israel for years, exposing it to suits at, among other venues, The Hague. The UN itself has become — to use Ambassador Power’s phrase in a different context — the problem from Hell.

President-elect Trump gets all this. “The United Nations,” he told Aipac during his campaign, “is not a friend of democracy, it’s not a friend to freedom, it’s not a friend even to the United States of America where, as you know, it has its home. And it surely is not a friend to Israel.” The Security Council’s action today underlines the shrewdness of Mr. Trump’s plan to nominate, in David Friedman, an ambassador to the UN who understands the principle of Jewish settlement in the Biblical homeland. Mr. Trump himself this afternoon said things will be different come January 20.

What a tragedy all of this is for the world body that, almost 70 years ago, gave birth to the Jewish state. Israel today stands as the United Nations’ only enduring achievement. In any event, the time has come to deal with the problem of the United Nations itself. Mr. Trump can start this off by working with Mr. Graham and the bipartisan coalition he promises to curb funding for the UN. He can proceed with moving our Israel embassy to Jerusalem and enforcing American laws restricting funding of the Palestinian Arabs. In other words, he can address the problem from Hell in its own house.

Reports: Anti-Israel UN Resolution vote TODAY after one-day delay

Trump is the hero by getting Egypt to postpone a UN Security Council vote on Jerusalem and Jewish Settlements in Judea-Samaria which is Israel's heritage.

Could Trump come to Israel’s rescue again with some strong worded verbiage making it clear what he will do when his Administration begins on January 20?

Reports: Anti-Israel UN Resolution vote TODAY after one-day delay

December 23, 2016 at 10:50am

New Zealand, Malaysia, Venezuela and Senegal call vote after Egypt backed off.

We reported yesterday how Egypt decided to pull an anti-Israel resolution, after intervention of Donald Trump. The Obama administration reportedly was ready to abstain and not veto the resolution.

We also noted that other countries had threatened to bring the Resolution to a vote if Egypt didn’t.

Haaretz reports that the vote is back on and will take place at 3 p.m. today:

The UN Security Council is expected to vote on Friday on a resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlements.

The vote is to take place at 3 P.M. EST (10 P.M. Israel time).

The decision was made following a meeting at the UN headquarters in New York between the envoys of New Zealand, Malaysia, Venezuela and Senegal. The four states were signed on the resolution that Egypt had submitted before ultimately asking to postpone the vote on Thursday due to Israeli pressure.

The four states told Egypt on Thursday that if it did not clarify whether it planned to call a vote on the draft resolution, then they reserved the right to move ahead with the vote.

Reuters also reports the vote will take place today.

The Resolution in question is pernicious. It declares any Israeli presence beyond the 1949 armistice line (the so-called pre-1967 line) illegal. That means Israeli control of the Jewish Quarter of the Old City would be illegal, as would the presence of Jews in the Jewish Quarter, which Jordan had ethnically cleansed of Jews and ransacked. It also would mean Israeli control of the Western Wall would be illegal.

If Obama abstains, he will have allowed the UN to strip Jews of their history.

If this happens, we’ll know for sure whether the legacy of the Obama administration will be the abandonment of Israel.

PM: We can't stop Palestinian statehood declaration in UN

Benjamin Netanyahu

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly spoken the belief that there is no way to prevent the United Nations General Assembly from voting by international plebiscite into existence a sovereign Palestinian nation of Jew-hating Islamofascist Arabs.

Netanyahu also pointed out that the UN General Assembly has no enforcement power, that enforcement power is in the that little group of nations known as the Security Council. The bite of the Security Council is only with the unanimous vote of the Five Permanent Members of the Security Council.

Netanyahu thus is counting on at least one Security Council veto from permanent member the United States. President Barack Hussein Obama has demonstrated his dislike for Israel so let us pray Congressional pressure from both Democrats and Republicans entices BHO to produce that veto.

Here is an article from the Jerusalem Post reporting on Netanyahu’s words relating to giving up Jewish land in favor of a nonexistent people calling themselves Palestinians that are really Arab descendants of refugees caused by invading Arab armies in 1948.

PM: We can't stop Palestinian statehood declaration in UN

By JPOST.COM STAFF

Netanyahu tells FADC that General Assembly will vote for Palestinians, it's possible to pass "flat earth" resolution in GA.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday said that there is no way to stop the United Nations General Assembly from recognizing Palestinian statehood in September. In the General Assembly, he remarked, "it would be possible to get a resolution [passed] saying the world is flat," speaking at a Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee meeting.

Netanyahu added, however, "It's impossible to receive recognition of Palestinian statehood that doesn't come from the Security Council, whose procedures will lead to failure. We don't have any way to stop the resolution in the GA, we're only expecting to be supported by a number of countries."

The presence of terrorist organizations is increasing in Sinai because of Egypt's difficulty in exercising its sovereignty over the area, Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu noted that Hamas is getting stronger in Egypt and has moved to run its operations from Syria to Egypt following anti-Assad uprisings there.

"Egypt has had difficulties exercising its sovereignty over Sinai. We saw this in the two gas pipe explosions that occurred there," Netanyahu said. "What's happening in Sinai is that global terrorist organizations are meddling there and their presence is increasing because of the connection between Sinai and Gaza."

Netanyahu's comments came after Al-Hayyat satellite television station on Monday reported that over 400 al-Qaida members have made their way into the Sinai Peninsula, according to a senior Egyptian security official.

The security sources said the terrorists carried out "a number of attacks against [Egyptian] security forces in the Sinai city of El Arish," the official told Al-Hayyat.

During the FADC meeting, Netanyahu warned that, "The Muslim Brotherhood is also not insignificant in Egypt.

"We are concerned about what happens around us, especially in Egypt and Jordan," he said.

The prime minister stressed that the situation should be shared with the public in light of the changing reality in the region.

"This was true before I left the US and even more so after what I said there," he stated, adding that his objective in the US was to try to unite all the parties over the importance of "recognizing Israel as the Jewish state" and that there should be an "Israeli military presence along the Jordan [River], that the refugee problem will not be solved in Jordan, and that Hamas is not committed to the principles of the Quartet."

Commenting on his meeting with Obama, Netanyahu said "The conversation with the president was respectable. I told the president that we cannot accept the 1967 lines."

"The final version of Obama's comments was received on the day just before his speech [to AIPAC] where he said the borders will not be the same 1967 lines," Netanyahu said. "There is very strong support for Israel coming from the American people."

On the changes taking place in the Arab world, Netanyahu said, "There is a huge jolt in the Arab world and it should be handled in a sober and responsible way.

Netanyahu also commented on peace proposals by the Arabs saying, "Not all Arab claims are a [peace] plan and not every instance in which we reject their principles means that we do not want to advance the peace process."

"It is first necessary to unite around our own plan," Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu also addressed the Ofer brothers affair, in which the United States placed sanctions on the Israeli businessmen after revealing they had sold an oil tanker to Iran. The prime minister denied ever authorizing the Ofer brothers' business with Iran or having any prior knowledge of the affair.

The Prime Minister's Office did not authorize the contacts between the Ofers' company and Iran, Netanyahu said. "I found out about it from a journalist's question," adding that after checking with members of his staff authorized to deal with such matters, "there was no permission for any contact or delivery to Iran." "We have clear policies on this matter," he added.

Also speaking at the committee meeting , opposition leader Tzipi Livni criticized Netanyahu for allowing diplomatic conditions the preceding Kadima government accomplished to deteriorate during his term as prime minister.

"We left you a supportive world, excellent relations with the US, a world which opposed the [Palestinian] right of return, [supported] leaving the [settlement blocks] in Israeli hands. Hamas was weak and the world was delegitimizing it," she said.

Today, she said to the prime minister, "you eroded all of that. You eroded the American commitment to Israel, Hamas has grown stronger and is receiving legitimacy."

ElBaradei: Cannot Confirm Iran’s Peaceful Nuke Claim

John R. Houk
© November 27, 2009

Outgoing head of the International Atom Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohammed ElBaradei has proffered news that most intelligent people already knew. The information is that the IAEA cannot verify that Iran nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes. ElBaradei did fail to make the next logical assumption: If Iran is stonewalling the IAEA on the validity of a peaceful nuclear program then Iran is operating a nuclear program for purposes of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

If you agree with the intelligent diagnosis then this statement from Glynn Davies should completely mystify you:

"The United States remains firmly committed to a peaceful resolution to international concerns over Iran's nuclear program," said Davies. "We also remain willing to engage Iran, to work toward a diplomatic solution to the nuclear dilemma it has created for itself, if only Iran would choose such a course, but our patience, and that of the international community, is limited." (VOA – 11/27/09)

This is an indication the Obama Administration is not one of the intelligent people. For one thing I find it doubtful that Russia and China as part of the international community will be on board for crippling U. N. Security Council sanctions that might actually work at this stage to force Iran at least into temporary compliance on a nuclear weapons program. Even if that international miracle would occur with Russia and China, the psycho-Shi’ite Twelver State of Iran may yet resist compliance from dar al-harb kuffar.

In which case that would leave to choices concerning a nuclear armed Iran:

    1. Passively allow Iran to acquire nukes hoping the psycho-mullahs will not make good on their threats to remove Israel from the global map. This would mean war that a reluctant Obama appeaser would be forced to join Iran or Israel militarily.

    2. Actively support an Israeli military strike against Iranian nuclear facilities as an independent free agent then backing America’s old friend which is the ONLY Western style representative democracy in the Middle East.

Intelligent people would realize the carnage would be lesser under choice two. Leftist appeasers such as are inherent in the Obama Administration probably would choose choice one because the carnage will appear to be lesser for the USA at first. The reality is that the carnage will be heavier under choice one. Choice one is the same path Neville Chamberlain chose in dealing with Adolf Hitler. Look how that turned out as far as carnage goes.

IRAN NUCLEAR INQUIRY IS AT ‘DEAD END,’ U.N. INVESTIGATOR SAYS

By News Services
BY DAVID E. SANGER AND WILLIAM J. BROAD
New York Times
11.26.2009 8:31 pm
The Wire

The director of the U.N. nuclear watchdog declared in unusually blunt language on Thursday that Iran has stonewalled investigators about evidence that the country had worked on nuclear weapons design, and that his efforts to reveal the truth had “effectively reached a dead end.”

The comments by the official, Mohamed ElBaradei, came four days before he leaves office after 12 years at the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency. His remarks refocused attention on Iran’s alleged work on weapons design at the moment that the West is considering moving to harsher economic sanctions on Tehran, after it backed away from a commitment it made in early October to temporarily ship much of its nuclear fuel out of the country.

ElBaradei’s remarks also came as Iran approaches President Barack Obama’s end-of-year deadline to reassess whether the United States should move toward what Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has termed “crippling sanctions” on Iran. Israeli officials, meanwhile, have said they would not consider taking military action until Obama’s deadline runs out, leaving hanging the suggestion — maybe the bluff _ that it was preparing for that possibility in 2010.

ElBaradei’s statement marked a sharp departure in tone, and a tacit acknowledgment that his behind-the-scenes effort to broker a deal have collapsed. In the past, he has privately talked about Iran’s refusal to answer the agency’s questions about weapons work, but has stopped short of rebuking the country in public for fear of shutting off any chance of future cooperation.

Those questions, posed by the agency over a period of years, go to the heart of suspicions that Iran has worked on nuclear weapons designs. Among them are queries about drawings, computer simulations and other evidence of work that could not plausibly be involved in civilian nuclear power programs. That includes documents obtained by the agency _ some provided by Western intelligence services, who say they were slipped out of Iran by scientists _ that appear to show that Iran worked on how to shape uranium into the kind of hemispheres used for nuclear cores, on conventional explosions needed to detonate a nuclear chain reaction, and simulations of a warhead detonation at about 2,000 feet, about the height at which the bomb was set off over Hiroshima in 1945.

“It is now well over a year since the agency was last able to engage Iran in discussions about these outstanding issues,” ElBaradei said in remarks to the nuclear agency’s governors. “We have effectively reached a dead end, unless Iran engages fully with us.”

In the past, Iran has called the evidence “fabrications.” ElBaradei has complained that he has been prohibited by “member states,” including the United States and European nations, from letting the Iranians see the original evidence _ presumably for fear that it could reveal sources. On Thursday, he repeated his frustration on that point, telling the agency’s 35-member board that “it would help if we were able to share with Iran more of the material that is at the center of these concerns.”

It is unclear whether ElBaradei’s comments will help push Russia and China to vote in favor of a resolution condemning Iran for failing to tell the agency, until two months ago, about a uranium enrichment plant that it secretly built on a Iranian Revolutionary Guard base near the city of Qum. Iran later said that it kept the construction secret until recently because it feared that its known nuclear plants could be bombed.

But that delay violated its obligations to the United Nations, ElBaradei said, and his statements reinforced the sense that Iran has blocked inspectors from getting near what are known as “Project 110″ and “Project 111,” its suspected weapons-design work.

At Iran’s invitation, however, inspectors visited the underground plant at Qum last month, and confirmed it is in the final stages of construction, but not yet operational. It is supposed to house 3,000 centrifuges _ too small, experts say, to be useful for producing civilian nuclear fuel, but large enough to produce about two weapons’ worth of material each year.

American officials tried to use Iran’s concealment of that plant, and the possibility that there were related facilities built to produce nuclear material, to press Prime Minister Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and President Hu Jintao of China to join a new round of sanctions. Both have been reluctant, especially Hu, who said nothing about it during Obama’s trip to Beijing this month. Privately, American officials visiting China have told officials to weigh how a confrontation with Iran could interfere with China’s purchases of oil. China gets roughly 15 percent of its oil from Iran.
But the central issue through the Iran investigations has been the evidence suggesting that Iran conducted some level of research on weapons. An American intelligence estimate, published two years ago, contended that Iran ceased that work in 2003; intelligence agencies in Britain, France, Germany and Israel, examining the same evidence, have assessed that the work has resumed, or never stopped.

In October, parts of a confidential analysis written by senior staff members of the IAEA were leaked. The analysis concluded that Iran has acquired “sufficient information to be able to design and produce a workable” atom bomb. The report’s conclusions went beyond ElBaradei’s public positions, and even those taken by the United States and several governments.

The analysis drew a picture of a complex program, run by Iran’s Ministry of Defense, “aimed at the development of a nuclear payload to be delivered using the Shahab 3 missile system,” Iran’s medium-range missile, which can strike the Middle East and parts of southern Europe.

That analysis, and others like it, draw on years of clues and scraps of information gathered in Iran and from intelligence agencies around the world. For instance, atomic inspectors have found signs that Iran has done extensive research on high-voltage detonators, explosive lenses for bomb detonation, and re-entry vehicles for missiles that can cushion nuclear warheads as they streak earthward.

The inspectors also found evidence that a Russian scientist had helped Iran conduct complex experiments on how to detonate a nuclear weapon.

They believe he acted on his own as an adviser on experiments described in a lengthy document that the agency obtained. Officials have described the original, in Farsi, as a detailed narrative of experiments aimed at achieving the perfectly timed compression of nuclear fuel to order to squeeze it into supercritical mass, which initiates a nuclear blast.

In 2006, the agency released a report saying that Iran had obtained from the global black market a document “related to the fabrication of nuclear weapon components.” The previous year it told of the market offering to help Iran shape uranium metal into “hemispherical forms,” which Western nuclear experts say are needed to make nuclear bomb cores.

Also in 2005, European and American officials told of an Iranian laptop computer that held studies for crucial features of a nuclear warhead, including a telltale sphere of detonators to trigger an atomic explosion. The documents specified a blast roughly 2,000 feet above a target _ considered high enough for a nuclear detonation to maximize the damage below.
