Islam Will Ruin Those Who Refuse Submission

Wise Up & Wake Up! Keep Islam Out of YOUR Neighborhood – The Pakistan Example

John R. Houk, Blog Editor

© April 24, 2026

I just realized my early blogging concerns relating to the intrusion of Islam may have been re-sparked in my awareness. I’ve been blogging and sharing on the dangers of Islam to Christians and Christian culture with a bit more frequency lately.

After 9/11 I did a lot of reading up on Islamic doctrine and followed a number of prominent Counterjihad writers (which seem to have become less prominent I sense because of age). I realize in this present age there might be extra mitigating circumstance in addition to Islam in regard to the 9/11 attacks. For me Iean to CIA grooming of already willing Jihadists to embark on an endless war scenario. Although Mossad might have knowledge of CIA planning I DO NOT believe Israel (or a Jewish conspiracy) was a part of the grooming. Obviously Israel’s national interests benefit from the endless war scenario, yet if there is any external blame – I blame the CIA (probably in conjunction with other American Intel agencies).

NEVERTHELESS! Islam’s revered writings (Quran, Hadith, Sira, Sunna, etc.) that preach hatred toward all things, all people and all religions that are not Islamic; made Jihadists an easy target for American Intel endless war grooming.

While I was dwelling on my decades of exposing the evils of Islam, a thought popped into my head about Asia Bibi. That is a person once prominent in the news but since has disappeared as news worthy.

Asia Bibi was a Pakistani Christian who lived in a poverty status of dhimmitude is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan who worked as a farm laborer. During a work break Asia went to quench her thirst at a well which was also frequented by Muslim women laborers. Those Muslim gals were offended a Christian low class Dhimmi would dare drink from the same well as the Muslims.

A ruckus ensued between Asia and the Muslim gals which culminated in the Muslims claiming Asia said derogatory things about their prophet Muhammad. Asia denied the accusation until a beating forced a fake confession.

Keep in mind IF Asia had simply said Jesus is the Son of God Resurrected from death to life and more important than Muhammad, those thoughts are blasphemy in Islam worthy of death. Asia Bibi was arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to death according to Pakistan’s Blasphemy laws all in 2010. She spent about seven years on death row until Pakistan’s Supreme Court exonerated her.

Asia Bibi and two of her five children, pictured prior to her imprisonment on death row in 2010 for "blasphemy."

Between 2010 and 2021 I followed the plight of Asia Bibi on my blogs SlantRight 2.0 and The Conservative-Patriot Christian Right (during the Bibi Asia period the blog was called Neo-Conservative Christian Right – long since abandoned Neoconservatism).

I ran “Asia Bibi” in the search bars of those two blogs and came up with roughly seven pages of results. Some of those results are directly related to Asia Bibi. Some results are about Islamic Supremacist persecution of Christian Pakistanis. Pakistan is not a good place to live for Christians. The Blasphemy Laws are used as lawfare tools against poverty stricken Christians (left-overs from British Empire days) who often face Muslim mob beatings and horrific mob deaths still. SEARCH BARS at SlantRight 2.0 AND CPCR. If you choose to go down memory lane on those search bars, keep in mind many of the source links are so old they probably will not function. Even so, the information is crazy informative of the evil Islam is toward Christianity.

A sad note: Two prominent Christian Pakistani Journalist were a source of the information I posted – Shamim Masih (sometimes Shamim Mahmood) and Hector Aleem. You will probably notice Shamim did not always appreciate Hector. I have not heard from either individual for quite some time.

I know that Hector Aleem had his own encounter with Pakistan Blasphemy Laws and was arrested. The last information I had on Hector is he was acquitted of his Blasphemy charge in 2014. However I can find nothing from Hector Aleem (cursory searching) after December 2014. Hector’s Blogger Page last post was 12/27/14. I can’t find if Hector is alive or dead. My suspicion is Hector has departed Pakistan for his safety. If Hector is alive, he is probably keeping a low profile to prevent any backlash from Christian loved ones stuck in Pakistan.

A HUGE source of information about Islamic Supremacist deplorable acts in Pakistan came from Shamim Masih (sometimes Mahmood or Mehmood – I never understood the reason for the two names). Shamim’s persecution story is similar to Hectors except Shamim was more a journalist thorn in getting information out to Western outlets while Hector was more a Christian advocate for downtrodden Pakistani Christians. I know that Shamim was physically assaulted for reporting on the persecution of Christians in 2015 (HERE & HERE). Shamim’s last Blogger post 10/3/20. Shamim had found me on Telegram informing me he was keeping a low profile in the USA. I found him on Facebook as Shamim Mahmood 4/3/26 (birthday). The FB page sadly is absent of any journalistic advocacy so I’m not sharing the link.

The point is: Islam ruins the lives of those who choose not to submit.

Back to Asia Bibi… Biography Central runs an Asia Bibi bio that tries awfully hard not to aggravate Muslims in sharing her persecution story apparently last “generated” 11/28/25 when I last looked.

So what has been going on for Asia Bibi since finding haven in Canada? According to a New Lines Magazine post from 3/21/23, the Muslim persecution is absent but still living a rough life. Apparently all her advocates have forgotten Asia Bibi. I have not been able to locate any more recent than 2023. Below is the most recent update I found.

Condemned to Death for Blasphemy in Pakistan, She Lives a Life of Poverty in Exile

The first woman to be sentenced to execution under the country's notorious law, Asia Bibi, gives a rare interview about her new life in Canada

After spending more than eight years on death row over false blasphemy allegations in Pakistan, Asia Bibi, a Christian woman, managed to escape to Canada in 2019 following her acquittal by Pakistan’s supreme court. On social media, right-wing propagandists then claimed that a life of luxury awaited her abroad and that she was being backed by “anti-Pakistan” and “anti-Islam” powers. Nothing could be further from the truth. In exile, Bibi has been living a life of poverty, abandoned by both the state of Pakistan that wronged her and the human rights groups that once avidly advocated for her release.

Over the past two years, her health has deteriorated as she suffers from a joint ailment.

“I think I only have a few years left to live,” the 52-year-old Bibi told New Lines in her first public interview since 2020. Like many Pakistani dissidents and victims of extremism who are hounded out of the country, Bibi’s plight continues even in exile. She works a menial job, sometimes for over 14 hours a day, to cover her rent and her family’s expenses. The modest financial support the family initially received from the Canadian government was discontinued a year later. The authorities help refugees only for a year after their arrival, after which they are expected to fend for themselves.

In 2010, Bibi, a farm laborer who hails from a village near the Nankana Sahib district of Pakistan’s Punjab province, became the first woman to be sentenced to death under the country’s controversial blasphemy laws for allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad during an argument with Muslim neighbors over sharing a cup of water. She was arrested and imprisoned, then sentenced to be executed by the local court, a judgment that was upheld by the Lahore High Court.

When Salman Taseer, who was then the governor of Punjab province, visited Bibi in prison and vowed to persuade then-President Asif Ali Zardari to issue a presidential pardon for the woman on humanitarian grounds, a hateful campaign against Taseer ensued. He was himself accused of blasphemy by extremist clerics who declared him an apostate for supporting a “blasphemer.” Still, Taseer remained steadfast in his opposition to the blasphemy law. In 2011, one of his own bodyguards, Malik Mumtaz Qadri, shot him 27 times with an AK-47 assault rifle near his home in Islamabad, killing him.

Similarly, Shahbaz Bhatti, who was the federal minister for minorities affairs and belonged to the minority Christian community in Pakistan, had extended support to Bibi and condemned the misuse of blasphemy law. He too was assassinated in 2011, with the Pakistani Taliban claiming responsibility.

Pakistan inherited its blasphemy laws from the British, who codified them in 1860. More than a century later, in the 1980s, as part of his Islamization policy, Pakistan’s military dictator, Gen. Zia-ul-Haq, introduced a number of clauses that made the laws more stringent. Following this, the number of blasphemy-related cases skyrocketed. Between 1987 and 2014, over 1,335 people were accused of blasphemy. Prior to the new clauses, only 14 such cases had been recorded.

After the murders of Taseer and Bhatti, Bibi’s case garnered global attention, highlighting the growing violence toward Pakistan’s religious minorities and those who stand up for them at the hands of uncontrollable mobs of extremists. Her fate, observers said, would in part determine the future of religious minorities in the country.

When Bibi was finally absolved of blasphemy charges in 2018, a wave of violent protests erupted across Pakistan, led by right-wing groups, most prominently the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP — “I Am Present Pakistan”). Protesters brought the country to a standstill, setting fire to rickshaws and cars. Traffic blockades due to the riots forced authorities to shut schools in most parts of the country. Shoes were hurled at pictures of the then-chief justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar, while extremist clerics leading the protests called for mutiny in the armed forces. Police were given no clear instructions by the government on how to deal with the protesters and seemed unable to handle the mobs.

Two days later, as the unrest expanded across the country, the government — led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI – “Pakistan Movement for Justice”) party — signed an agreement with the TLP by which the government agreed to “initiate a legal process” to place Bibi’s name on the country’s Exit Control List, or ECL, a government-maintained roster of suspected criminals who are barred from leaving the country. It also vowed not to oppose a review petition filed against the supreme court’s verdict acquitting Bibi. The countrywide protests were then brought to an end and the TLP celebrated the agreement as its victory. The official actions were seen by many as an act of capitulation by the government.

Though the government did not put Bibi’s name on the ECL, it kept her in protective custody for six months after her release from prison. Posters calling for her execution continued to be displayed in public places, and the TLP’s social media team ran hateful hashtags against her.

Six months later, she was flown out of the country in secret and reunited with her husband and two daughters in Canada, where the family was granted asylum. International human rights watchdogs, as well as the European Union, were reportedly in touch with the government of Pakistan to ensure Bibi’s safe exit from the country. The government released no information about her departure.

Despite being cleared by the country’s highest court and having spent eight years in prison, Bibi was forced to leave Pakistan in the manner of a criminal.

“When I landed in Canada three years ago, the first thing I thought was that I am here because I was thrown out of the land of my birth,” Bibi tells New Lines, her voice breaking. Her husband is unemployed, as he is on heavy medication and cannot work without falling sick. Her two adolescent daughters are disabled. She also has three other children still in Pakistan. Bibi could not meet with them or her father, who is over 100 years old, before leaving Pakistan. Her mother passed away while Bibi was in prison.

“My biggest sorrow is that I could not get to meet my father before coming to Canada. I will carry this grief in my heart for the rest of my life,” she says, tears welling up in her eyes.

Bibi misses her three children who could not join her in Canada because the support she was offered at the time of her departure was limited. She now has no one to advise her on how to bring them to the country. “I wonder if I will ever see my children again,” she sighs.

Even after three years, Bibi and her family have not truly adjusted in Canada, due to the language barrier, cultural differences and an overall lack of support.

“My husband and I are illiterate,” Bibi says. “Our children could not get an education either. You could imagine how hard it would be for someone like us.” Neither Bibi nor her husband knows how to read and write in English or French. They speak Urdu but cannot write or read fluently in it.

Even though there are government-run programs available for her children and husband in Canada, it is all too overwhelming for her to handle on her own. Being a laborer on a farm in a small village in Pakistan, Bibi had never imagined she would be living and managing her family in a foreign country all by herself.

Her case also highlights how difficult it is for people who have fled violence and trauma to acclimatize to life in a completely different environment like Canada. The country grants asylum to high-profile oppressed individuals. Yet the care offered to such individuals in many instances does not extend to supporting them through their trauma and PTSD. This was highlighted when the Egyptian LGBTQ activist Sarah Hegazi died by suicide in 2020 after being given asylum in Canada.

Asked if the Pakistani Consulate in Canada ever reached out to her, Bibi says she does not expect them to offer her any support, because back home she is still considered a blasphemer. During the riots that broke out after her acquittal, banners seeking her execution were openly displayed as protesters chanted hateful slogans against her and the Christian community. Incitement to violence and hate speech is a crime in Pakistan, but extremists groups are able to get away with it.

“Tehreek-e-Labbaik was asking the government to kill me,” she says. “Under such circumstances, how can the government offer me support?”

Bibi’s death sentence drew international outrage, prompting strong condemnations from organizations defending persecuted Christians as well as human rights groups. Pope Benedict XVI issued a public call for clemency for Bibi. In addition to the extensive media coverage, a number of campaigns were organized through online petitions, social media trends and concerts the world over. There were songs dedicated to her, along with books and documentaries. Bibi’s acquittal and subsequent escape from Pakistan were likewise covered globally, but when the media attention eventually subsided, she was left with little or no support.

“Many individuals who used my name to make money have also forgotten me,” she says.

Bibi says she was uncertain as to whether she would gain freedom even after the acquittal. “After my release, I felt like I had been moved from a small jail to a bigger one. During the six months I spent in protective custody, I feared I would be killed or sent back to jail.”

The type of persecution Bibi survived is an ongoing phenomenon in Pakistan and continues regardless of the government in power. According to news reports, at least 80 people have been extrajudicially killed in connection with blasphemy allegations in the country since 1990. Last month, a mob in Punjab’s Nankana Sahib district lynched a prisoner accused of blasphemy after attacking the police station in which he was held. His body was later set on fire. In December 2021, the case of the Sri Lankan national Priyanta Kumara, who was burned to death in Sialkot over blasphemy allegations, sparked global outrage.

Governments in Pakistan tend to capitulate to extremist mobs every time they take to the streets. Public figures, including state officials, who are accused of blasphemy are quick to avow their faith and issue clarifications to avoid the dreadful fate of Taseer. The TLP, the group that led violent protests against Bibi’s release, is still going strong and continues to hold violent protests on a regular basis.

Far from doing anything to curb this violence, Pakistan has made efforts to strengthen the blasphemy law. In January, the National Assembly passed a bill seeking to increase the punishment for blasphemy committed against the prophet’s companions and his progeny, which is already a crime in Pakistani law under Section 298-A. The bill proposes an increase in the period of confinement from three years to at least 10 years, extendable up to lifetime imprisonment as well as a fine of 1 million rupees (about $3,600). If the bill is signed into law, blasphemy will become a non-bailable offense in Pakistan.

While rights defenders celebrated Bibi’s safe departure from Pakistan, the persecution once meted out to her remains a reality for many others. In January 2022, a 27-year-old woman, Aneeqa Ateeq, was sentenced to death by a court in Rawalpindi over a “blasphemous” message sent over WhatsApp and Facebook. She claims her accuser used the messages against her as revenge after she rejected his sexual advances.

Junaid Hafeez, a Fulbright scholar and academic who taught at a university in the city of Multan, has been languishing in prison on blasphemy charges for nine years. The blasphemy campaign against him was initiated by a religious group at his university opposed to his liberal ideas. In 2019, Hafeez was convicted of blasphemy and sentenced to death. About 40 people in Pakistan are currently on death row or serving life sentences after being convicted under the blasphemy law.

As the fate of the victims is left hanging in the balance, Bibi still longs to return home one day. [Blog Editor 2026: Why would any Christian consider Islam-infested tyranny home?]

“I know the people who want to kill me are still very powerful in Pakistan, but I don’t want to stop hoping.”

Discovering Asia Bibi

Asia Bibi 2021

Do you recall the persecution of Pakistani-Christian Asia Bibi? In case you have forgotten or never heard of her ordeal, she was a Pakistani-Christian laborer who dared to quench her thirst from an apparently Muslim-only well. The offended Muslims engaged in epithets against Asia’s faith which landed her in a no-win situation for Pakistan is an Islamic Republic. This means extolling any faith other than Islam is blasphemy. AND in Pakistan the penal code requires the death penalty.

The thing about life in Pakistan and the blasphemy penal code is that unscrupulous Muslims often use the blasphemy accusation to settle personal disputes with Christians (and other non-Muslim faiths) or to acquire the rare piece of property a poverty stricken Pakistani-Christian might own.

I was so enraged of the religious persecution Asia Bibi received, that included roughly a decade on Pakistan’s death row, that I dedicated much blog time to her plight and other persecuted Christian in Pakistan.

You can read the SlantRight 2.0 posts with this tag-search (sadly may not show up in order of date posted). One can also search my Wordpress version blog (NCCR) and find similar Asia Bibi posts (also not sequential).

As you can probably surmise, Asia eventually secured freedom death row and asylum away from Pakistan much to the chagrin of bloodthirsty Pakistani-Muslims who actually rioted over her freedom.

I recently ran into a Breaking Christian News story  dated 7/22/21 that was a CBN News pickup of Asia Bibi speaking via video to International Religious Freedom Summit. I took a look at the speaker list and was disappointed and discouraged many of the speakers were godless prominent Dem-Marxist Trump-haters. And yes I used the word “godless” even many of these Dem-Marxist profess a Christian faith but went out of their to support immoral platforms such as abortion, the LGBTQ movement, Communist atheistic principles (e.g.: BLM, CRT, Church lockdowns, etc. & etc.).

ERGO, I probably do not place much stock in the International Religious Freedom Summit as a paragon of Christian virtue or Religious Liberty for that matter. BUT Asia Bibi is a woman who stood for Christ even if it meant her death. AND FOR THAT, Asia Bibi is a Christian hero of faith.

Because Asia Bibi is a Christian hero you should think of picking up her most recent book relating her death row, freedom and asylum. The book was first published in French (A French co-writer) under a title that translated into English as “Finally Free” that was released in early 2020. English speakers as I am, can pick the English translation that came out in late 2020 under the title, “Free at Last”.

Instead of cross posting the BCM article where I discovered this Asia Bibi update, I am using the CBN original which can be read below.

Pakistani Christian Asia Bibi, who spent nearly a decade on death row after being falsely accused of blasphemy against Islam, wants to be a voice of hope for other persecuted Christians.

As CBN News has reported, Bibi was convicted and sentenced in 2010 after a coworker accused her of insulting Islam after a dispute. Blasphemy is a crime punishable by death in Pakistan.

The 50-year-old addressed the International Religious Freedom Summit last Wednesday via video message, thanking God for her freedom and acknowledging those who prayed for her while she was imprisoned.

"From the bottom of my heart I am very thankful to the Lord, who has rescued me from my sufferings and difficulties," she said. "He has given me a fresh start and the opportunity to start a new life with my family."

Bibi added that she "wants to be a voice for Christian people, Christians in prison, and in difficulties."

She recalled how her faith overshadowed her fear.

"When I was in prison, I was very worried about my children and husband. I was not aware where they were and whether they were safe or not. At the same time, I had a hope in the Lord," Bibi explained. "Thanks to all of the brothers and sisters who prayed and fasted. Because of their prayers, I am now free."

Bibi has previously shared a remarkable story about an encounter with a bird that would routinely visit her when she was in her darkest moments in prison. She believed the bird was a message from God as a means to strengthen her faith.

"There is a beautiful thing that happens every day in my cell," she explained. "Two days after they announced my death penalty, I was brought into (death row). Every morning around 3:30 or 4, a brown bird with a long beak appears and sits on the boundary wall. This bird also comes every evening around 5. He sits there for 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening. Later on, he became my friend. I talk to him and he also talks to me."

She continued, "As I watched this bird every day, I tried to understand the meaning of him coming day after day. I think this is a messenger from God giving me His message. When the bird comes, I feel encouraged and peaceful. I feel comforted after his visit. I think this is a very significant sign from God."

Even though she was awaiting death in her cell, the bird brought her comfort and a glimmer of hope, just like God sent ravens to minister to Elijah when he was hiding from those who wanted to kill him.

The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening and would drink from the brook (1 Kings 17:6).

Ultimately Bibi was acquitted of the crime by the Pakistan Supreme Court but then was kept from leaving the country by officials even after a final bid from hardline Islamists to have her acquittal overturned was rejected.

Radical Muslims in Pakistan were outraged by the acquittal and threatened to murder her. Tens of thousands rallied in the streets and called for her death.

She was finally able to leave Pakistan in May of 2019 and was reunited with her daughters in Canada.

During the summit, Bibi pointed out that her "Christian brothers and sisters worked very hard for my freedom," and said she is "very thankful to everyone from the bottom of my heart."

"Let us join hands and stand together so we can be a voice for our Christian brothers and sisters who are suffering, and help them out of their situations," she said. "Like the Lord did for me."

In Feb. 2020, Bibi released a book about her years in prison titled, Finally Free.

In her new book, she writes about the daily persecution suffered by Pakistan's Christian minority and gives an account of the demeaning and appalling conditions in the prison where she was confined.

FINALLY—In Spite of Islamic Ideology, Asia Bibi Escapes Pakistan

John R. Houk
© May 9, 2019

Asia Bibi Family Collage (includes husband Ashiq Masih. Daughters Eisham, Esha & Sidra)

In October 2018 the Pakistan Supreme Court – at great risk to Judges’ bodily harm – finally realized Christian-hating Muslims framed Asia Bibi of violating Pakistan’s incredulously moronic Blasphemy Law and gave her exoneration.

After Asia’s exoneration her family fearing death threats managed to flee Pakistan for safety. BUT the Pakistan government refused to allow Asia Bibi to flee for her life. THEN European nations with a Christian heritage refused to grant asylum to Asia Bibi out of FEAR of enraging their significant Muslim population boosted by recent years of Muslim migration (both legal and illegal).

SURPRISING to me, I have learned Canada has granted Asia Bibi asylum and indeed it is reported she has arrived in Canada safely. I say “surprising” because Canada’s current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is a blatant Multiculturalist supporting Muslim refugees no matter the cost that Islamic theopolitical ideology is against the Western rule of law and culture.

Below are two stories cross posted from Vlad Tepes and The Gateway Pundit. Especially in The Gateway Pundit NOTICE the HUGE NUMBER of Muslims in Pakistan calling for the death of Asia Bibi. So much for the lie of moderate Islam versus radical Islam. OR perhaps the majority of Pakistan Muslims are radical?

No my friends, those Muslims calling for Asia Bibi’s death are merely following the hate inherent in Islamic revered writings.

Asia Bibi in Canada

Asia Bibi, a Pakistani Christian woman who spent eight years on death row over false blasphemy charges, has left the country. Bibi was acquitted by the country's top court six months ago. Her lawyer says she has left for Canada.

It is possible that this is the first genuine refugee Canada has taken in. And it is an amazingly good thing that Canada did. One wonders if there are conditions to her being here such as limits to her freedom of speech to discuss Islam and its impact on minorities in Islamic countries. It is difficult not to believe that the Saudi girls are not under conditions like that as their language has been extremely measured since arriving here.

The CBC article failed to mention that the UK turned down her application because of concerns over how local muslims would behave. Once again showing who makes the law in the UK.

It is a powerfully good thing that Canada brought in Asia. However I personally have met migrants to Canada from Syria who were Christian but had to lie and say they were Muslim to get into Canada as a refugee. So while this extremely high profile case is an excellent event, someone needs to look in to the actual policy in Canada in terms of accepting genuine refugees of Islamic horror and discrimination against minority religions and see what is wrong in the system.

Persecuted Christian Asia Bibi Flees to Canada After Muslim Blasphemy Law Acquittal in Pakistan

Bibi was not allowed to leave Pakistan until her trial was over.

Muslims want her dead.

Earlier this week Asia Bibi arrived in Canada after fleeing Pakistan.

She was not safe there despite her acquittal.

FOX News reported:

The Christian woman who spent years on death row in Pakistan for alleged blasphemy before she was acquitted last year has left the country for Canada, her lawyer confirmed to Fox News on Wednesday.

Asia Bibi was convicted on blasphemy charges in 2009 after a quarrel with a fellow farmworker who accused her of insulting Islam’s Prophet Muhammad.

After spending eight years on death row, the 54-year-old’s conviction was overturned last year by the Supreme Court. Despite being a “free woman” after the death sentence was thrown out, she has been in protective custody – itself a kind of prison – because of religious extremists’ calls for her hanging.

— End complaint —

It looks like I will not be travelling to Pakistan anytime soon. Pakistan actually shows the legal code my “Blasphemous” content breaks.

So, quoting the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority:

Pakistan Penal Code section 295- B and is in clear violation of Section 37 of Prevention of Electronic Crime Act (PECA) 2016 and Section 19 of Constitution of Pakistan

I found three PDFs from Googling portions of the law I am breaking:

·       Pakistan Penal Code [6th October, 1860] – 175 pages

·       A Bill to make provisions for prevention of electronic crimes (Passed 11/8/16) – 29 pages

·       PAKISTAN Use and abuse of the blasphemy laws (7/1994. Amnesty International) – 31 pages

Of particular interest to me was from “PAKISTAN Use and abuse of the blasphemy laws,” the penalty for breaking the Blasphemy law under the heading, “2.2 Sections of the PPC amended or added during Zia-ul Haq's Islamization drive” which is on page 7 of the PDF referencing section 295-B:

Several sections were inserted in the PPC in the 1980s. Section 295-B was added in 1982; it made defiling the Koran a criminal offence. It reads: "Whoever willfully [sic] defiles, damages or desecrates a copy of the Holy Koran or of an extract therefrom or uses it in any derogatory manner or for any unlawful purpose shall be punishable with imprisonment for life." [Bold text by Blog Editor]

In 1980, section 298-A was inserted in the PPC, by which the use of derogatory remarks "by words, ... or by imputation innuendo or insinuation, directly or indirectly" in respect of persons revered in Islam, was made a criminal offence punishable with up to three years' imprisonment. In 1986, defiling the name of the Prophet Mohammad was made a criminal offence and the relevant section, 295-C added to the PPC (see below in detail).

Most alarming after examining further penalties heaped on is on page 8 of the PDF under the subheading, “2.3. The blasphemy law: Section 295-C PPC”:

In 1986 the penal code was amended by Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1986, which added the blasphemy law under section 295-C to the Pakistan Penal Code. It provided the death penalty or life imprisonment for the criminal offence of defiling the name of the Prophet Mohammad. It reads:

"295-C: Use of derogatory remarks, etc. in respect of the Holy Prophet: Whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representations, or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable to fine." [Bold text by the Blog Editor]

The Court directed the government of Pakistan to effect the necessary legal changes and added, "in case this is not done by 30 April 1991 the words 'or punishment for life' in section 295-C, PPC, shall cease to have effect on that date". Decisions by the Federal Shariat Court are binding on the government under Article 203-D(3) of the Constitution. The Government has the possibility to appeal against such decisions to the Shariat Appellate Bench of the Supreme Court before any directive of the Federal Shariat Court takes effect. The government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not file an appeal against the decision making the death penalty the only punishment available for blasphemy. In July 1991, it announced that it had decided to amend section 295-C as directed by the court. A bill to that effect was placed before parliament in 1992. While the Senate, the upper house of parliament, unanimously adopted the bill in July 1992, the lower house of parliament discussed it at length but did not pass it. Opposition parties considered it to be too vague and …

Now that’s some Free Speech limitations for essentially speaking the truth and then receiving the death penalty. Pakistan’s law establishing all things Islam as supreme is not surprising since 97% of the population is Islam and of those 97%, a staggering amount are Sunni-Islam Muslims.

Considering the huge number of Muslims that undoubtedly accept Islamic principles in Pakistan’s rule of law, laws relating to Blasphemy are unsurprising. Just as Christian principles should be an influence in the rule of law in Western nations.

As far as I am concerned, Pakistan’s rule of law is a glaring example of why Islamic principles CANNOT BE ACCEPTED in the West as the rule of law, ESPECIALLY IN AMERICA WHICH HAS A BILL OF RIGHTS AS PART OF THE CONSTITUTION WHICH AFFIRMS CHRISTIAN CONCEPTS OF NATURAL LAW!

I responded to the WordPress Support thinking I would get some kind of reply affirming, rejecting or a mixed reaction my Free Speech stand:

Pakistan is in a sad state of Sharia censoring the citizens from Free Speech truth. I pray the Wordpress powers that be and the blog platform’s legal team are more protective of Free Speech than Pakistan. On the other hand Pakistan is a sovereign nation and I suspect the Pakistan government is protecting its Muslim citizens (as you probably know Pakistan is overwhelmingly a Sunni-Islam majority nation) from getting upset. In Sharia, placing the prophet Muhammad in a bad light – even when factual – is a capital crime. A Pakistani Christian (**Asia Bibi) survived for nearly 9 years on death row accused of insulting Muhammad by implying Jesus was a greater person. After nine years and the failure of evidence from Bibi’s accuser, Bibi was released from prison nearly causing riots by the devout Muslim Pakistanis.

It’s sad but I can live with accommodating Pakistan’s request as pertaining to Pakistan. However, outside of Pakistan, I pray you honor Free Speech and not censor posts that are outside of Pakistan’s authority.

Thank you for your consideration and your work, [Blog Editor: The links related to Asia Bibi were not in the original email sent to WordPress Support. The double asterisks (“**”) near Asia’s name is to a recent link about Asia stuck in a secretive location in ill health and being refused medical attention. I want to bring attention to the plight of Asia Bibi and thus will posting her still horrendous treatment directly after my thoughts on Free Speech.]

No response or further action of notifications so far from WordPress.

I can live with my blogs being banned in a 97% Muslim nation. And I believe I will not be visiting Pakistan anytime soon … or ever.

‘Everyone is Worried’: Asia Bibi ‘Very Unwell’ in Pakistani Safe House, Being Denied Medical Care

03-11-2019

Asia Bibi, the mother of five who spent almost a decade on death row for a crime she did not commit, is reported to be in dire physical condition as she continues to be held in a safe house in the Pakistani city of Karachi. Bibi, 53, was acquitted of blasphemy last October after the Supreme Court ruled that the accusations had no evidential basis. Since then, Bibi has been granted asylum in Canada, but as yet has not been released from her home country.

What Is The Latest?

According to a source quoted in The Daily Mail, Bibi is “very unwell” and being denied medical care while holed up in a safe house with “low blood pressure.”

“Everyone is very worried,” the source explained. “She won her appeal and was supposed to be out of Pakistan by now.”

Despite the fact that Bibi’s children are now safely in Canada, the Pakistani government has wanted to seek assurances from the embattled mother that she will not speak ill of her home country upon leaving. There is still no indication of when exactly Bibi will finally evade the clutches of the country that has caused her so much strife.

“Even though the government says she can leave, the army has all the power in this case,” the source added. “They are in control of her. They are fearful about getting a negative press if she speaks out about her experiences – but they will get an even worse press if she dies in protective custody.”

British officials recently stated that the Pakistani government has “confirmed that Asia Bibi is free to make her own decisions and to leave Pakistan,” but the realities of this case speak of a very different story indeed.

Many are calling on prominent church leaders, such as Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, to do more on Bibi’s behalf.

For now, Asia and her husband, Ashiq Masih, remain in Pakistan with little idea as to when they will be allowed to leave.

What Is The Background?

Bibi was initially arrested back in 2009 after supposedly entering into an argument with a group of women about a source of drinking water. The Islamist women accused Bibi of drinking from the same tap as them, to which Bibi allegedly responded, “Jesus Christ died for my sins. What did the prophet Muhammad do for you?” a remark which they believed offended their revered religious figure.

However, in the Supreme Court’s final judgment, it declared that the two sisters who accused Bibi “had no regard for the truth,” before adding that “the said semi-literate young sisters had a reason to level allegations against the appellant which could be untrue.”

The landmark judgment also noted that the prosecution’s presented evidence in the case “was nothing short of concoction incarnate.”

“Her conviction is set aside and she is to be relieved forthwith if not required in other charges,” said Chief Justice Saqib Nisar in the astonishingly bold ruling, as reported by The Guardian.

But the court’s statement went even further, implying that Bibi had been subject to clear-cut prejudice in her arrest and trial.

“It is ironical that in the Arabic language the appellant’s name Asia means ‘sinful,’” read the judgment written by Justice Asif Khosa, “but in the circumstances of the present case she appears to be a person, in the words of Shakespeare’s King Lear, ‘more sinned against than sinning.’”

The radicals, however, have remained bloodthirsty from the very day Bibi was arrested.

Prior to her acquittal, in Pakistan’s second-largest city of Lahore, hundreds of protesters gathered together and chanted “Hang infidel Asia.” Sickeningly, the hashtag #HangAsiaDefend295C was trending among the religious extremists on Twitter, with the “295C” referring to section 295-C of Pakistan’s penal code, which makes it a criminal offense to blaspheme against the Prophet Muhammad.

What Does The Blasphemy Law Actually Say?

According to the Penal Code itself, 295-B refers to the prohibiting of “Defiling, etc., of Holy Qur’an,” and 295-C is in reference to the “use of derogatory remarks, etc., in respect of the Holy Prophet.” Other violations not specific to Islam contained in Pakistan’s criminal laws include “trespassing on burial places” and “disturbing religious assembly.”

Those who have chosen to support Bibi’s cause have faced grave consequences. In addition to the threat against Bibi, her family and the justices involved in her acquittal, other prominent politicians have lost their lives in the pursuit of religious freedom.

In 2011, shortly after Bibi’s conviction, Punjab Governor Salman Taseer was brutally murdered for speaking out in support of the wrongly convicted Christian woman. Shot dead on the streets of Islamabad, his own bodyguard was found guilty of the heinous crime and, though sentenced to death himself, he has since become a cult hero with a large shrine in his honor erected on the outskirts of the capital city.

Just two months later, Christian politician and outspoken critic of the blasphemy laws, Shahbaz Bhatti, was also assassinated — shot dead by the Pakistani Taliban as he traveled to work.

Do continue to pray for Asia Bibi as she does everything in her power to flee Pakistan.
