Greedy Judas Iscariot – One of the Twelve

Too Much Devil to Seek Forgiveness

I mentioned on 3/3/25 I was on a period of revival retreat. I’m going to share one insight of many that got me to thinking. Perhaps it will also strike a chord in your heart as well.

In America schools do not teach the history of how America’s Independence came about as they should. If you are a reader that is a victim of a WOKE education, you might not recognize the name of the person who became the epitome what it was become an American Traitor.

To those of us who had a traditional education in Grade School, the name Benedict Arnold [Interesting historical perspectives: HERE, HERE & HERE] reigns in history as the TRAITOR who tried to sell out American Liberty because slighted in the realm of recognition. He died a free man under British protection but even scorned by the British public for his lack of honor.

Benedict Arnold brings the American to a historical traitor. In Christendom another individual brings the odor of traitor – Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve Apostles chosen by Jesus the Son of God.

The treason of Judas appears to be a case of greed (he was the treasurer of the Jesus Ministry before the Resurrection) and perhaps an expectation of a supernatural Jesus-ruled Kingdom of God on earth. Apparently human reasoning (rather than Holy Spirit reasoning) justified Judas embezzlement would be forgiven.

An examination of Judas Iscariot actually can begin with what happened to Jesus shortly after He told a hometown crowd He was the fulfillment of the Isaiah prophecy of Jubilee (Luke 4: 18-19; Isaiah 61: 1-2 NKJV).

Luke 4: 28-30 NKJV:

28 So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with [a]wrath, 29 and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff. 30 Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way.

NKJV Note a: Luke 4:28 rage

It was NOT time for Jesus to die for the sins of humanity yet. THUS, as far as the raging crowd following their Pharisee-taught perception of the Law of Moses was concerned, Jesus mysteriously eluded the crowd’s rage and simply walked undetected “passing through the midst of them, He went His way.”

This merely one example of Jesus using the supernatural anointing to remain safe from Pharisee/Sadducee inspired crowds framing the Son of God as blaspheming the ALMIGHTY. Of course Jesus was NOT blaspheming but HE was following the direction of His Father God.

Guess who else perceived and watched the Power of God operate through Jesus? That would be the greed-infested thief Apostle Judas Iscariot.

Judas Iscariot was such a greedy thief he rebuked  Disciples and even Jesus with an accusation spending money or resources that Judas could have [cough!] dispersed to the poor. What a joke! Judas Iscariot was actually more concerned about how resources were used that prevented him from thieving.

This is where What-If speculation produces a scenario in which Judas Iscariot believed enough in the power of God flowing Jesus sensing the soon restoration of Israel with Jesus as King BUT not faith in Jesus to stop thieving from the ministry treasury.

Here’s how this speculation plays out – AND IT IS SOUND speculation: What if Judas witnessed so much supernatural power at the hands of Jesus, Judas believed Jesus would simply “passing through the midst of them”; i.e. the Temple soldiers arresting Jesus following the paid betrayal committed by Judas Iscariot.

Of course the combination of greed and betrayal did not play out as Judas Iscariot believed. Judas Iscariot was remorseful but so full of the devil to be unrepentant. Rather than seeking repentant forgiveness as Peter did for denying Jesus, Judas Iscariot killed himself undoubtedly receiving a one-way ticket to Hell.

Ø Satan enters Judas Iscariot marking the point of no return on betraying Jesus (Luke 22: 2-6; John 13: 21-30 NKJV)

Ø Jesus betrayed in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22: 47-54 NKJV)

Ø Jesus arrested AND Jesus does not resist or pass through the midst of the Temple Soldiers (John 18: 1-11 NKJV)

Ø Judas Iscariot expresses unrepentant remorse and commits suicide (Matthew 27: 3-5 NKJV)

The rest of the Story: Fake Trial, Crucified to death and Resurrected to a Glorified body. Enabling ALL who Believe (both Jew and Gentile) to become Redeemed from a lost world system and become a new Creation in the Risen Jesus the Christ the Son of God.
