Honor killings are Muslim phenomena that the Western MSM Leftist apologists are in denial when it happens in our Western Culture. The American MSM is particularly reprehensible in attributing the term Honor Killing to Islam. Certainly Honor Killing happens in Muslim nations with near zero judicial punishment.
There are other cultures that execute Honor Killing other than Islam; however it is Islam that propagates the majority of this murderous practice.
Phyllis Chesler has written an article on Honor Killing that appears in the Spring 2010 issue of the Middle East Quarterly. On the sidebar of that article is a victim of Honor Killing who is of Afghan-German heritage. This girl was 16 years old when her brother stabbed her 23 times. Morsal Obeidi was murdered by her brother Ahmad-Sobair Obeidi on May 15, 2008 for turning away from the Obeidi family. Imagine that!

Morsal O, a 16-year-old German-Afghan girl, was killed in May 2008 by her 24-year-old brother Ahmad Sobair O. He stabbed her twenty-three times in a parking lot in Hamburg, Germany, because of her alleged impure moral conduct. Murder of teenage or young adult women by their fathers or other close male relatives is characteristic of classic honor killings and is not a pattern in non-immigrant Western populations.
Morsal suffered 23 stab wounds then expired in a bloody mess. Ahmad-Sobair was convicted in February 2009 in a German court. When the verdict was read Ahmad-Sobair along with Muslim family and friends erupted into riotous anger. It was like: How dare this kafir Court convict a Muslim for doing his duty?
Unless this Islamic attitude is countered by the rule of law in the name of multicultural diversity our nation’s Constitutional law will become worthless. Kudos for the German Judge for convicting Ahmad-Sobair:
“He killed out of pure intolerance,” Hamburg Judge Wolfgang Backen said while reading the verdict, adding that the murder was “treacherous” and a premeditated “bloodbath” after all other attempts to “discipline” his sister had failed.
Although Judge Wolfgang Backen duly convicted Ahmad-Sobair for a heinous act, it was still very European of him to include the word “discipline” which was included in a paraphrase: “… after all other attempts to … his sister had failed.” So I have to wonder. Was Judge Backen indicating that Morsal needed disciplining for drawing away from repressive and intolerant Islam?
