Ben believes Newt Gingrich is a hypocrite.
Ouch. Your observations are valid. I think your conclusion is a bit rough. Newt and Palin are victims of political correctness and yet also practice it. It is true it is hypocrisy. Unfortunately effective politics in America is rarely successful in black and white terms.
For Newt to step up to the plate to make an effort to spot light that political correctness is hampering National Security and American safety is a good thing. No one can seriously believe an American politician will step up to the plate and state the obvious - Islamic ideology is evil when compared to the American heritage of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. The concept of religious freedom is simply too ingrained in the American conscientiousness. It will take some time to bring an understanding to Americans that a religion is inherently evil in its core beliefs. There are simply too many Muslims who are brainwashed that their religion is a religion that brings inner peace (the so-called greater jihad that is deluded hogwash).
For Newt to begin the push toward putting a spot light on Islam is a huge politically incorrect gamble for him. Thus I say good for Newt in this instance. I am certain political correctness will have Newt make some not so great stands (Here is an example), but that is inevitable in American politics.
