Defining Core Beliefs

Uncle Same - Take America Back
Election 2012 is probably the most serious this nation has faced in decades. How you vote may determine the future of America for decades if not America’s very existence as we know it.

Here is a forwarded email originally from WallBuilders that you may wish also to pass on to an undecided Christian.

Both the Democrats and the Republicans concluded their respective national conventions. In addition to each highlighting its nominee for President, each also drafted its national platform, setting forth its worldview philosophy on dozens of issues and values. Many of the items, or planks, in those platforms are directly addressed in the Bible and are therefore of critical importance and interest to voters of faith. Below are just a few examples of such planks.

On the Issue of Unborn Human Life

  • Democrat Platform: "The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supportsRoe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay."
  • Republican Platform: "Faithful to the 'self-evident' truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed."

On the Issue of Traditional Marriage

  • Democrat Platform: "We support marriage equality and support the movement to secure equal treatment under law for same-sex couples. We also support the freedom of churches and religious entities to decide how to administer marriage as a religious sacrament without government interference."
  • Republican Platform: "The institution of marriage is the foundation of civil society. Its success as an institution will determine our success as a nation. It has been proven by both experience and endless social science studies that traditional marriage is best for children." "We reaffirm our support for a Constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman."

The fundamental beliefs of each Party are set forth every four years as it crafts its new platform. When candidates identify themselves as either Democrat or Republican, they align themselves -- that is, they stand on -- the platform drafted by the delegates and leaders of that particular Party.

As you go to the polls this November, make sure you are informed about what your candidate and his or her Party believes.

Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual - or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country. Samuel Adams
