I just read a Christian Newswire email
article entitled, “Robert's Liardon Declares America a Christian Nation”.
I can tell the Christian Newswire editor that put the article together isn’t
really aware who Liardon is. That editor made the mistake of placing an apostrophe
in Liardon’s first name. Liardon actually spells his name R-o-b-e-r-t-s with no
apostrophe. He wa named after Evangelist Oral Roberts.
Liardon actually became a nationally teen preacher
eventually writing his magnum opus God’s Generals: Why They Succeeded and
Why Some Failed. It is an awesome read about the pioneers of faith in the
19th and early 20th centuries. You can now read the book

A note to the self-righteous about Roberts Liardon: A few
years ago he got himself into a bit of moral trouble:

three months ago after admitting to a "moral failure." The founder of
Embassy Christian Center in Irvine, Calif., gave a 30-minute message at his
church on March 10 and spoke on keeping the faith. In December, Liardon, 36,

Frankly I am unsure on Liardon’s status on repentance in
2018. Most nay-sayers are from those who condemn Pentecostal-Charismatic-Word
of Faith as heresy. Of course I refuse to condemn any Christian that subscribes
to the basics of Christian faith. Namely, Jesus is the Son of God and the son
of the then virgin Mary. God died on Cross as the Redemption price of Adam’s rebellion
against God by disobedience in Eden, Jesus arose bodily from the dead to the
Resurrection of life – fully human and fully God. Most other points of belief
are degrees of dogma humanity’s Salvation does not depend on.
What I do know is Liardon’s magnum opus on 19th
and early 20th century pioneers of faith is quite inspiring –
regardless of his current spiritual status of repentance. At the very least
Liardon is a great historian of relatively recent Christian history.
Ergo, when Liardon joins the I Declare America is a Christian Nation
movement, that is something that should catch your attention. The declaration
goes like this:
We the people declare America to
be a Christian nation; a nation that will uphold Christian biblical values as a
standard for all to prosper regardless of religious position. America is
“one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”.
We acknowledge that we are all sinners and have no stones to throw at
others. We repent of our sins as individuals and as a nation. We
acknowledge the Bible as the ultimate written authority from God and strive to
uphold Biblical principles in our individual lives, our families, and our
country. We pledge to love and obey our Creator and to love our neighbors
created in His image. We believe God gave each the freedom to worship Him as
conscience dictates. We believe America’s founding documents were written
to protect freedom of religion, not from religion. Individuals in
America have a right to live their lives, raise their families and operate
their businesses in alliance with biblical principles without interference from
the government. We pledge to vote according to Biblical principles to
ensure our rights and freedoms regardless of political party affiliation,
religious denomination, race, or gender. We pledge to defend our
Constitution and to submit ourselves and our nation to the sovereignty of our
Lord, the King of Kings, and supreme authority over the destiny of America as a
nation.
